The live broadcast of Richard II will be shown in cinemas in various countries around the world next week (details here).

The production company behind it brought David's version of Hamlet to our screens, and once again the producer, John Wyver, is blogging daily about the process. The main blog - always worth a read - is here; the production-specific updates are here

The production diaries - ten weeks of them so far, including contributions from the film crew - are on the RSC website here

Links to reviews of Richard II and photos/videos taken at the stage door will be posted here, as and when I come across them.

I'm also adding official production photos when they're released, so beware of SPOILERS if you want to remain surprised.

Please feel free to add any that I may miss.

My mostly non-spoilery report on Richard II is here (Tumblr)

It's not a review, it's just a summary of my experience, with photos.

I'm collecting photos from that night and subsequent performances, and will share them in another post ;)

My friend has a spare ticket to see Richard II in Stratford-upon-Avon on Thursday 10 October.

It's on Row E, in the 30-39 seat area, and the price is £40.

Please DM me if you're interested, or pass on this message to anyone else you think may be interested.

RichardII

This time next week (Thursday evening), the world will be buzzing in the afterglow of the first performance of Richard II

I haven't been able to set up a calendar for this community, but if you want to share details here of which performance(s) you'll be seeing - and whether or not you'd like to meet up with fellow fans while you're there - then please feel free to do so here. Please use the subject box of your reply to state the date that you'll be going to see the play, to make meeting up easier to arrange.

Tickets still available

I was searching for something else entirely, and found a post on the DT blogspot that there are a few tickets available for both the Stratford and London runs! I was quite surprised, especially since I was searching for something else RII-related, and had heard how fast Hamlet sold out.

Stratford ticket availability is visible at the RSC website, and is mainly on weekdays:
http://www.rsc.org.uk/buy-tickets/p/richard-ii/

London availability is visible only at the Barbican website, and appears to be primarily on weekdays in January:
https://www.barbican.org.uk/eticketing/performancelist.asp?shoid=35814

My impression from checking a few dates for each location is that there's a decent chance of getting a ticket for the stalls (and all I saw in my Stratford sampling was stalls level availability), though the Stratford dates I checked showed seats with a restricted view. The stalls available for the Barbican seemed to be rows M and above.

Happy ticket purchasing for anyone out there who wasn't part of the big rush earlier in the year, or has decided they want to see it again!

Any questions?

Not that I'm counting or anything, but it's 82 days until David makes his debut in Richard II.

Are you going to see him in Stratford-upon-Avon or London, or both?

Do you need advice on getting there, staying there, or anything else?

Do you want to room-share or taxi-share, to save money?

Do you have questions about anything related to your trip to see Richard II?

Here's the place to post your questions and share information, and maybe arrange to meet up with fellow fans.

As many London-related questions will already have been asked/answered during the run up to Much Ado About Nothing in 2011, I'm sharing the links here for easy access:

  • Things to do in London: here and here

  • Travelling to and around London: here

  • Where to stay: here

Please be sure to check earlier entries in this community, too, as there may be information there of interest to you.

The second batch of tickets for Richard II went on sale today.

Did anyone manage to buy any?

I did, luckily, although my blood pressure soared during two hours of mounting tension while the RSC site kept crashing!

I'll kick-start the "Who's going?" post later, and I'll also launch the calendar some time this week, but in the meantime feel free to comment here if you've bought your ticket(s).

Welcome to R2DT2013

First of all, many thanks to ES on Twitter for the catchy name ;)

This community is for anyone interested in the Royal Shakespeare Company production of Richard II, starring David Tennant.

The community is also for anyone who will be going to see the play - to ask questions about travelling to/around Stratford-upon-Avon and London, where to stay, what else to do while you're there, etc. ... or anything else that will make your visit easier.

Who's going?
We will have a calendar which will display who is going to see the play on a particular day, so that you can arrange to meet up if you wish. Let me know if you want to add your name to the calendar.

Tickets
There will be the opportunity for members to buy/sell tickets from each other through this community. For example, if you have a surplus ticket and you wish to sell it, then you may advertise it in a separate post so that fellow members can contact you for details. The moderator will not be involved in any way, and will not be responsible for any element of such transactions.
Links to ticket details will be added to this post for ease of reference.

Useful information
More links will be added to this post as the community grows, for example -

  • Things to do in London
  • Thins to do in Stratford-upon-Avon
  • Travelling to and around London
  • Travelling to and around Stratford-upon-Avon
  • Where to stay

Reviews
Once the play has started, we encourage anyone who's seen this production of Richard II
to share their experience - a review or some photos or just a quick
note of your reactions to the play. Posting access is open to all
members.

Please note -
This 'Welcome' post is for information only. If you have a query that is not answered in any of the above sections, or in any of the related links, please feel free to make your own post or to contact me direct via DM (posting to the community will probably get a quicker answer, as I'm not online 24/7).
Likewise, if you have tickets for sale, a review to post, information to share, etc., please do so in a separate post. Thank you.
