A Special Note of Thanks

We want to share this beautiful note from Rita Zawaideh, CEO of our long-time quilt distribution partner, Salaam Cultural Museum and SCM Medical Missions. We have been proud to partner with SCM for many years and this is only possible due to our talented and generous quilters supporting Quilts Beyond Borders from all over the world. Thank YOU!!

Dear Quilters,

On behalf of everyone at SCM, we want to extend our deepest gratitude for the beautiful quilts you have so generously created and donated over the years. Each quilt is more than fabric and stitching—it is a gift of comfort, dignity, and hope for the individuals and families we serve.

Your craftsmanship is extraordinary, but what truly shines through is the compassion behind every piece. The colors, patterns, and care you put into your work bring warmth not only to those who receive the quilts, but also to our entire community. You remind us that kindness can be both practical and profoundly meaningful.

Thank you for sharing your time, your talent, and your hearts. Your quilts wrap people in more than warmth—they wrap them in love, and that is a gift beyond measure.

With sincere appreciation,

Rita Zawaideh

Quilts Heading Home

Our QBB quilts often take long journeys, picking up love along the way. They travel from the piecer….to the finisher…to the coordinator who packs and ships. And then they finally arrive at their forever home!  At each step these gifts are infused with creativity…and LOVE.

Thank you to all the quilters in our network who generously make these gifts possible. Please enjoy the photos below which went to two of our long term partners – you can click on each picture to see them larger and see the maker’s name.

Beautiful Christmas Quilts for Beautiful Families

In December 2025,  Quilts Beyond Borders provided quilts for the family Christmas celebration at the Women’s Recovery Center in Phoenix, AZ.  The center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing substance use treatment and housing to women.  Quilts Beyond Borders sent them several deliveries of quilts for this celebration as you can see in other recent blog posts. A link to learn more about this organization:  https://azwomensrecoverycenter.org

Beverly, a director at the center said:  “Our kiddos were so excited about their quilts.  They loved them! What a treat for our families. Our gratitude for everyone’s kind and beautiful work is endless. Thank you so much. We are so blessed!”

Note – these photos are used with permission from the families.

From the Northwest and Beyond – Quilts to Comfort Cases

The NW group has sent 307 quilts this year to Comfort Cases for children in foster care.  When a child goes to a foster home they receive a backpack and inside some of them are our quilts along with other supplies. This organization based in Virginia provides backpacks to children across the country. QBB sends them over 1000 quilts a year.

Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us and making colorful quilts for children who can use the comfort.

From the NW and Beyond – Quilts for SCM Part 3

In February of 2025 the Salaam Cultural Museum was able to send a container filled with medical items and other supplies to Gaza. Along with those things went 789 quilts from our NW Group. We are so happy to help provide the comfort of a quilt to people in such desperate need. I am always amazed at the work that this humanitarian group is able to accomplish for people by setting up medical and dental clinics, providing food and shelter and other ways to help people in need.

You can click on the pictures for a closer look at the beautiful quilts and the people who made them.

Thank you for your help and support to QBB we couldn’t do this without you!

We are splitting this this shipment of quilts into 3 separate posts due to the large number of photos, this is the last of the set.
