Quantum Roundabout

Nottingham, 9th – 11th September 2026

Quantum Roundabout is a postgraduate conference on quantum physics, which will be held between the 9th and 11th of September of 2026 at the School of Mathematical Sciences of The University of Nottingham. This event will bring together early career researchers in theoretical quantum information working at the crossroads between physics and applied mathematics. We hope that the roundabout will provide them with the opportunity to network and interact with their peers, as well as recognised experts.

The conference is open to early career researchers from universities all over the world, and is aimed to cover the mathematical foundations of active research areas of quantum physics – all intimately interconnected, namely: quantum resource theories; continuous variable quantum information theory; quantum computation theory; quantum imaging and optics; and the mathematical and statistical tools underpinning quantum technologies, especially quantum sensing, estimation and metrologyThree leading researchers in these fields will give lectures/tutorials on cutting-edge topics. Moreover, a flexible programme with room for lots of short talks and a dedicated poster session has been devised to encourage an active contribution from all participants. Prizes for the best contributed talk as well as the best poster will be awarded by the Institute of Physics (IOP). The traditional quantum “round-a-boat” will also be taking place. This will be an evening spent having dinner aboard a boat travelling down the local river Trent.
