Proton Mail Bridge für Mac

70 days (seventy) after the release of v3.15.0, Proton Mail Bridge decided to update itself. Unacceptable? Of course. I knocked a point off. Considering what a mess this thing makes of Apple Mail, I have to wag my finger at them for being seriously bad developers. Yes, I'm on a jag regarding Proton. I'm an Unlimited customer who is watching them sag into failure mode, and I don't like it. Etc. Ugh. 😝

Today, 24+ days after version 3.14.0 was released, I had to manually download it to update from version 3.13.0. I've already chatted with Proton about this situation. They stagger app updates in order to obtain feedback from a smaller group of users before any mass update release. However: (A) There is nowhere at Proton to find out what are the current app versions. (B) There is nowhere at Proton to read Release Notes. (C) There is no mechanism in Proton apps to check for updates. As a result, unless I keep an eye on MacUpdate to know if there is a Proton update that has not reached my laptop. Alternatively, I can randomly download Proton apps to find out if they've been updated. Having to wait 24+ days for an update is not good. I've attempted to start a conversation about this on Reddit. 😒

v1.0.6 of Proton Mail is out. NOTE: There are TWO elements/apps that make up Proton Mail. (1) Proton Mail Bridge, which is what MU downloads. It is the SETUP application. It is currently at v3.8.2. (2) There is MAIN APP: Proton Mail. It is what's run after the initial setup is finished. It is the MAIN APP. It is regularly updated as well.

Proton Mail macOS desktop client BETA is now available at the Proton.me site. The current beta is 0.9.3. So far, looks good. Q: Does it allow access to other email services? A: No. Not yet anyway. - - I'm testing it because I'm fed up with (A) Apple coding bugs into Mail, then ignoring them. (Sound familiar?) (B) Apple's degenerated 'Support' system, all levels. (C) Apple bombing or bringing down their iCloud Mail services and never bothering to tell its customers. *GRR* I've already been using Proton Mail from day one for my PRIVATE email. iCloud eMail service gets all my other junk, for now.

Proton has just released their first macOS app for Proton Drive, v1.0.3. After it's initial run, it allows you to access your Proton Drive directly from the Finder. Sweet.
