ABOUT US
Project Raise emerged from the need for collaborative action to raise Gender Equitable Boys to become a part of the solution and bring about systemic change.
There are approximately 230 million males under the age of 18 in India, growing up in a culture that normalises violence and discrimination against women and girls. These boys and men can easily become a barrier in progress towards gender equality or become a massive force of allies in the fight.
Limited technical knowledge about the approach, methodology and tools, lack of common measurement indicators and tools, lack of access to large-scale evidence and lack of funding were identified as barriers for adopting the approach by the organisations in the development sector.
Our aim is to tackle these barriers through collaboration across the sector.
The collaborative is facilitated by a dedicated team of four individuals at Equal Community Foundation and utilises the expertise within the organisation and across the sector.
About Equal Community Foundation
Equal Community Foundation was established in 2009. We work with adolescent boys to support them in becoming gender equitable. We develop and implement behaviour change programmes; conduct research and support organisations across India who work with women and girls to start engaging boys in their existing work. Our mission is to raise every boy in India to be gender equitable.
The technical knowledge and resources that we share on Project Raise are based on our experience and evidence from Action for Equality Programme.
