Project Miller is an Autodesk technology preview designed to help users validate and prepare 3D models for additive manufacturing before committing to a print. It converts models into printable slices and simulates the layer-by-layer build so you can “see what the printer will see,” making it easier to spot issues such as thin walls, islands, trapped volumes, and unsupported features. The tool provides interactive slice and toolpath previews, basic mesh checks and repairs, orientation guidance, and estimates for print time and material usage. It works with common mesh formats like STL and OBJ, and was particularly aimed at photopolymer (SLA/DLP) workflows, including Autodesk’s Ember ecosystem.
Originally offered via Autodesk Labs as an experimental preview, Project Miller’s capabilities informed features that later appeared in Autodesk’s production 3D printing tools. Availability and feature sets may have evolved or been consolidated into products such as Autodesk Netfabb.
Project Miller is developed by Autodesk. The most popular version of this product among our users is 0.2. The name of the program executable file is Miller.exe.
