This talk addresses that challenge by diving into the new support for the MERGE command in Presto's execution engine and the Iceberg connector.

In this workshop, we’ll walk through why Presto C++ was built and how it fits into the Presto ecosystem, the architecture and performance benefits of a C++-based query engine, and the project’s current roadmap and how to get involved in the open-source community. Then we'll get hands-on to deploy Presto C++ locally with Docker and run benchmarks to compare Presto Java to Presto C++.

We’ll guide you through setting up and connecting Presto, MinIO, Apache Iceberg, and Apache Hudi including how to run queries and explore the rich metadata and features that Iceberg and Hudi provide. By the end, you’ll understand how these technologies fit together and have the skills to start building your own Open Data Lakehouse.

Presto has officially upgraded its core engine to Java 17, bringing performance, stability, and security improvements that set the stage for future innovations. In this virtual meetup, we’ll walk through what this upgrade means for developers and operators running Presto in production.
