Looking like one of the bigger stock risers in Ohio’s 2027 class, Cochran has taken his game to new heights and is peaking at the moment. The stretch forward caught fire on Friday and looked the part of a surefire Division I target. I’m surprised how quiet the recruitment has been for Cochran thus far but he seems like the perfect candidate to blow up at Midwest live if he plays how he did today.

Filling in this weekend for an injured player, Cochran was dominant on the interior as he was an efficient play finisher in the paint. When Cochran catches and goes up on balance he almost always scores at the rim given his height advantage. Add in the fact that Cochran is a fluid open court athlete and a capable shooter for his size and it’s not a surprise that Division I schools have been closely monitoring his development. The live period weekends in May, June and July will be important for Cochran to show his defensive versatility and play with toughness as the offensive upside isn’t hard to spot.

Dublin Coffman had no trouble this week with two 30+ point wins to advance to 7-1 on the season. Cochran is their most talented prospect and he helped them break away from Central Hardin in the second and third quarters to start a running clock in the fourth quarter. Cochran swatted a shot off the backboard and used his length to force turnovers in the trapping zone defense that Dublin Coffman used to speed up the game. Add in a couple baseline jumpers and an alley-oop dunk and Cochran had a nice day as Dublin Coffman handled their business playing downtown at the convention center.

Making a big impact on both ends of the floor, Cochran has the potential to be a dominant two-way force. Protecting the rim at a high level, Cochran blocked a handful of shots and altered even more with his length. Offensively, Cochran had a couple key putbacks to score in the paint. Maybe his best play of the day came on a baseline drive where he quickly swung the ball to a cutter for a wide open layup. Expect Cochran to continue to be a name people talk about in central Ohio’s 2027 class.

Cochran is one of the most talented prospects in the fall league and certainly had the impact you’d expect of a prospect who’s played two years on the 3SSB circuit with Midwest Basketball Club. Cochran has the positional size to shoot over smaller defenders and hit a handful of shots spotting up in the corner. Cochran has the length and frame to be an impact defender down the road as well. Hoping to see Cochran become more consistent as an interior finisher, he missed a dunk in traffic but showed some assertiveness later in the day.

I was intrigued by Cochran when I first saw him play at the 15 U level and his continued development has been right in line with where I’d expect him to be a year later. Cochran is playing above the rim more consistently and made a couple nice passes for his teammates. While Cochran can make plays off the dribble, I’d like to see him reduce the amount of times he’s stripped of the basketball. The lefty has a ton of potential and should blossom into one of the top forwards in central Ohio this winter if he continues to work on his game this fall.

I thought Cochran ended his season with some nice momentum with strong showings at the Fairgrounds as Dublin Coffman won a district title and gave Reynoldsburg a scare in the playoffs. A player who should get better and better as he continues to mature and develop physically, Cochran is another name that Division I programs will be keeping tabs on this summer.

Cochran was impressive tonight. This sophomore has great length and seems to have the room to add some more inches to him. He started the game off by knocking down some threes. Cochran did not settle though like you see a lot with big young shooters. He recognized that the defense was flying out to him and he attacked close outs. He had good finishes in transition with his right. He was in the right spot defensively and used his length well. But he also is a solid athlete.

Cochran has the frame and size that you’d look for in wing forwards to develop down the line. He moves his feet well, has tremendous length and should be able to add weight and muscle as he matures. He also impressed me with his ability to move off the basketball in the half-court. I also like Cochran’s aggressiveness going for rebounds and loose balls and he has soft hands. There’s plenty of other skills for Cochran to develop over the next two years offensively but I think he’s on the right path to becoming a priority recruit, he currently holds an offer to Pepperdine.

Cochran is a budding southpaw stretch 4 who has a knack from making shots from deep. Cochran is a mismatch issue because he can shooter over smaller defenders. He uses his branch like arms to alter shots. He also showed some promise attacking downhill. Cochran’s best basketball is still ahead of him and hoping he makes a jump with his strength. Cochran picked up and offer from Pepperdine earlier in the fall.
