The physical strength and ability to score inside stands out right away when you watch Orem play. He makes good, strong post moves with excellent footwork inside. Orem, a Great Crossing High School sophomore, had some big games in Kansas City for Indy Heat 16u finishing the weekend averaging 13.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He is a guy that you can run set plays for to throw it to him inside.

Brady has always been known for his high level motor but he took it up a notch this weekend during Nike E16 play. Orem is never going to be the most impressive in layup lines but he absolutely gets things done at a high level. Brady has a chance to be the best player in the 11th region this season.

In the game I got to see, I was really impressed with Brady Orem Brady Orem 6'7" | C/PF Great Crossing | 2028 State KY on defensive side of the ball. Has always been an inside-out offensive threat, but is noticeably a more mobile and willing defender. Played with active hands while being a big time rebounder. Always runs the floor well and was able to get a couple easy looks early. Really nice player with good potential that will continue to improve.

You can watch Orem play and realize how much he impacts the game as a whole. He rebounds and defends and is capable of scoring a the rim or stretching out and attacking. If you’re in a must-win situation, Brady is a player you want on your team.

It feels strange to call the defending state champions a Cinderella story but that’s kind of what Great Crossing feels like after they shocked the greater Lexington area by winning a stacked 11th region. Orem is the rare sophomore leading his team at the state tournament as his production has been incredible this season. Confident to fire away from 3-point range, that perimeter shooting development is crucial for Orem down the road. Scoring on offensive rebounds, the easiest way for bigs to score at the high school level is for them to do it themselves off the offensive glass and Orem is one of the best in the state at getting those extra possessions under the basket. Impressive run for Great Crossing as their team has played true team basketball in March. Fun to see Great Crossing continue to dance!

Brady is one of the most productive players in this class as a whole. When it comes to getting things done, Orem is capable of 20 and 10 every night out for Great Crossing. He’s also posting shooting splits of 59/39/74 and getting to the free throw line consistently every game.

Brady has managed to evolve his game over the last year and continues to improve and is starting to look like a mismatch issue for 11th region foes this season. Orem is comfortable both inside and out and won’t hesitate to go back to his post player roots and exploit a mismatch. Once on the perimeter, Brady is comfortable attacking the rim with the ball in his hands. He’s got a chance to be a really good player the next 3 years and projects as a D1 player down the line.

The most effective interior scorer from the forward position at the camp, Orem is already one of the more polished forwards in Kentucky regardless of class despite preparing for his sophomore season. Able to drive and finish with either hand, Orem might’ve made more layups with his left hand than his right on Sunday. Having crisp footwork on euro steps and pivots is a skill that most would ignore but Orem does it at such a high level it makes things look so smooth and effortless despite being crowded with help defenders whenever he touches the ball. Expect a big season for Orem at Great Crossing as they look to reload after a historic 2025 class that left a legacy at Great Crossing for years to come.

Brady is transitioning into life without sitting behind Malachi Moreno and he’s going to get better and better as he is used to being a primary option on offense. Orem can step out and shoot or play with his back to the basket. As he continues to develop his game, ball handling will be a priority. Look for Brady to be a big time breakout star this season.

I’ve been impressed with how the defending state champs have looked this week, battling well at Miami (OH) team camp and in Lexington during the live period event. Orem is a skilled forward with soft hands and the patience and feel to score on the interior. Showing toughness by playing this weekend after taking a hit to the nose on Wednesday, Orem is playing into contact on layups and earning fouls on a regular basis. Really excited to continue see Orem at the grassroots level this summer as well, seeing him in different roles against different types of competition to get a better evaluation on one of the top forwards in Kentucky’s 2028 class.
