Dr. Shaan Patel, MD, MBA is the Founder & CEO of Prep Expert, winner of a Shark Tank investment deal with billionaire Mark Cuban, a bestselling author, received his MD/MBA from Yale and USC, and a board-certified dermatologist physician. Dr. Patel raised his own SAT score 640 points from average to perfect when he was in high school. He has now developed SAT & ACT prep curriculum and courses that have helped over 100,000 students improve their own scores, get into top universities, and win over $100 million in college scholarships!

Miguel Chavira attended UT Austin, where he earned a BS in Computer Science and a BA English as well as a TEFL Certificate. Miguel has accumulated five years of tutoring experience across a number of organizations, giving him insight into a wide variety of strategies and advice. He can tutor any of the following subjects: ACT, SAT, PSAT, (undergraduate & AP) Computer Science, (AP) Biology, AP Calculus (A, B, C), (AP) Macro & Micro Economics, (AP) English (Language & Literature), ESL, any high school math, (AP) Physics, Spanish 1 & 2, AP Statistics, and essay writing & composition. As for teaching style, Miguel encourages honest self-reflection and provides realistic feedback and goals, advising students towards more optimal methods but coaxing them toward taking charge of their learning and progress. Flexibility is also used in tutoring programs, via a willingness to share and look into multiple strategies and perspectives to match individual students' needs. Miguel loves to show students that he also makes mistakes and emphasizes the idea that we are all students in the learning process, allowing us the opportunity to be a little better each new week or even day. Outside of tutoring, Miguel's hobbies include video games, music production/appreciation, learning about neuroscience and psychology, hiking, and traveling abroad.

Ethan Moy graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. He scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT and ACT tests, with perfect AP scores in Chemistry, Human Geography, and others. He also holds an IB Diploma with a final score of 40/45, including a perfect score in IBSL Math and IBHL Economics. Ethan has worked as a tutor for 2 years and has taught English abroad, developing a passion for teaching and an open communication style tailored to each student that encourages deeper thinking and questioning. In his free time, he loves trying new foods, going to baseball games, and travel blogging. Ethan is generally available weekday nights and Saturday afternoons and is located in Pacific Time.

[p]Hello! My name is Dr. Kevin Parrish, and I'm excited to be your Prep Expert instructor! I graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in 2025 with my PhD in Physics. During my time there, my focus of study was on computational material science, specifically on amorphous glass. I also branched out and did some climate science work on machine learning models applied to streamflow in the Colorado River. Throughout it all though, I never stopped teaching at Prep Expert![/p] [p]I've been an instructor here for 8 years now, beginning when I was just a freshman in college. Over that time, I've come to love our students and our courses, which is why I chose to continue teaching here after my doctoral program. I scored a 1570 on my SAT and a 35 on my ACT. On top of that, I also passed more AP tests than any other male student in the state of Nevada by my high school graduation in 2016, a total of 15, earning myself the prestigious State AP Scholar award for that year![/p] [p]My passions outside of Prep Expert include practicing on my piano and playing pickleball, but, most of the time, I find myself just cultivating my curiosities and learning about whatever new things pique my interest![/p]

Ilia is a top 1% SAT scorer; he graduated Magna Cum Laude and has taught university- level subjects for English and Linguistics majors, as well as SAT and ACT prep classes for high- school students. He has a PhD in Linguistics. Working part-time in a non-profit for a number of years, he has supervised research projects and worked on content creation. His passion is to see students master the subject they study and experience their “aha” moments.
