This is the 9th Annual Dan Barkley Showcase, which is being held at the Wellsville High School. The purpose of this event is to highlight the youth athletes of Allegany and Steuben County and also showcase the rivalries of these great schools in the two neighboring counties.
The Showcase is put on by the Allegany County Deputies Sheriff’s Association, the money raised goes towards scholarships for local Allegany County youth. In 2016, the Association was able to give eleven scholarships to local youth worth $500 each.

The Showcase is named after former Allegany County Jail Correction Officer Daniel J. Barkley Jr. Dan was a graduate of Richburg High School and Alfred State College, also serving in the United States Navy during Desert Storm. Dan was a lifelong member of Allegany County and involved in many activities throughout the county including being a life member and third assistant fire chief at the Richburg Fire Company. Dan always put family first and was an avid Nascar fan, he also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
This event is about more than sports as it offers many Partners for Prevention in Allegany County(PPAC) partners to set up information tables about the activities that they provide to the community. These organizations have included: Allegany Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, Inc.(ACASA) Cattaraugus Community Action, Family Matters, Partners for Prevention in Allegany County(PPAC), Reality Check, and STOP DWI in previous years.
