Shared Ideology Behind Settler Colonialism In Native America And Palestine

The United States was founded and exists on stolen Native American land, taken in the course of an ongoing national genocide. Israel was founded and exists on stolen Palestinian land, taken in the course of an ongoing national genocide. In both nations, these genocides are a structural part of settler colonialism. And as I will argue in what follows, the ideology grounding settler colonialism in both nations comes from the same source, helping to cement a long-standing relationship between Israel and the United States. Settler colonialism is a variation of colonialism.

DNC Winners: Ethnic Cleansing And Genocide

In the aftermath of this month’s big meeting of theDemocratic National Committeein New Orleans, supporters of the U.S.-Israel alliance have been quite content. “We’re pleased that the DNC Resolutions Committee rejected a set of divisive, anti-Israel resolutions,” the president of Democratic Majority for Israel said. The CEO of the Jewish Democratic Council of America, a former national security advisor to Kamala Harris, expressed gratitude to the DNC’s leadership. Why did pro-Israel groups voice so much pleasure and praise — not only for the sidelining of pro-human-rights resolutions but also for the process that sidelined them?

Spain To Formally Call On EU To Suspend Agreement With Israel

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced on 19 April that his government will formally propose that the EU suspend its Association Agreement with Israel. “A government that violates international law and, therefore, the principles and values of the EU cannot be our partner,” Sanchez said, speaking at a PSOE rally in the province of Huelva. “This Tuesday, the Government of Spain will take to Europe the proposal that the EU sever its association with Israel,” he stressed. Sanchez was careful to say that Spain’s stance is directed against the Israeli government and its policies, and not its citizens, saying, "We are a people friendly to Israel.”

We Will Never Abandon Our Prisoners Alone In Their Struggle

For over five decades, Palestinians have observed Palestinian Prisoner’s Day on April 17 as a national day to honor the thousands of Palestinian political detainees held in Israeli occupation prisons, highlight their struggle, and demand their freedom. In commemoration of the day, which is considered by Palestinians as a sacred occasion of patriotism and loyalty, Peoples Dispatch spoke to Mr. Raed Abu al-Hummus, head of the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs. Abu al-Hummus, who is also a freed Palestinian prisoner, assumed his new position in the commission with the rank of minister in February 2025, amid highly challenging political and security circumstances.

Israel Just Passed A Law Sanctioning The Lynching Of Palestinians

Last month, the zionist ethnostate of Israel, once again,  made its wanton disregard for the humanity and people(s)-centered human rights (PCHRs) of Palestinian people known to the entire world with passage of a new law mandating the death penalty of Palestinians of the Occupied West Bank convicted of carrying out “deadly terror attacks.” By a vote of 62-47, the Israeli Knesset approved the new measure and further stipulated that the executions of Palestinians would be carried out by hanging as the default method of punishment. Passage of the new edict was celebrated by Israel’s right wing National Security Minister and zionist zealot, Itamar Ben Gvir.

The scenic campus of Birzeit University sits on a hill near Ramallah, 12 miles northwest of Jerusalem, in the occupied West Bank. Vast blue sky is visible from every road and sidewalk. Palestinian flags wave in the breeze. The familiar campus bustle of classes, friends and events was violently interrupted on Jan. 6, 2026, when Israeli forces raided the university in broad daylight, firing live rounds and employing sound grenades and tear gas to disperse crowds of students. Amjad Ashour, 50, stands in the nutrition department at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, holding his four-month-old infant as doctors warn him that a lack of formula leads to stunted growth, developmental delays, and serious health complications. His child is already suffering from the shortage. Ashour’s wife, the baby’s mother, is herself malnourished, leaving the family entirely dependent on infant formula, which is no longer available at the hospital. Ashour said he struggled to find milk for his child every day, and when the hospital had none, he turned to international organizations.

Sudanese ‘Resistance Theater’ Animates A Future Without War

When a homeland is decimated by war and life must be repeatedly rebuilt anew, how does one find the way back to purpose?  Since the start of the war in Sudan, Sudanese theater director and artist Rabee Al-Hassan has brought theater to survivors of war and displacement across the country. He uses a kind of participatory theater that he calls “resistance theater,” which gives voice to many issues that remain taboo under oppressive laws and authorities in Sudan. Resistance theater confronts themes of human rights, social justice and equality, as well as despair, fear and post-war trauma.
