Our flagship campaign, Plastic Free July,™ supports individuals, organisations, and communities around the world to reduce plastic waste. What began as a local initiative has grown into a shared global movement where millions of people each year, choosing practical ways to avoid plastic waste and build lasting habits.
To achieve this significant impact, we undertake three key activities.
We develop tailored, practical tools, resources, and behaviour-change programs for various communities, including schools, councils, local authorities, businesses, health organisations, and hospitality providers. Working with in-country partners and local communities, we help create place-based solutions that work for their local context.
Stories play a powerful part in helping people see what’s possible. We share success stories and solutions from around the globe to inspire and show how small changes can add up to a big difference.
We use a range of communication techniques and tools to effectively convey the achievements of our Plastic Free July™ challenge participants, which helps normalise plastic-free choices and encourages action from wider communities.
We empower communities and organisations around the world through various communication channels and partnerships. Our campaign is shared across languages, regions, and networks to inspire action and extend the impact of the movement.
This includes electronic direct mail, social media, search engine, point-of-sale promotions, events, media, and networks of changemakers and not-for-profit organisations.
