Lasem is a C/Gobject based SVG/Mathml renderer. It uses cairo and
pango as it's rendering abstraction layer, and then support numerous
output formats: xlib, PNG, SVG, PDF, PS, EPS...

The API tries to follow the SVG and MathML DOM.
