A little about me
From as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated with fabric. My grandmother was an amazing seamstress, my mother as well, so our shopping trips were often spent in fabric stores. As my mother and grandmother shopped, I walked along the rows of fabric, running my fingers over the various textures. My sewing gene, however, didn’t fully emerge until I tried quilting about 27 years ago. I’ve loved it ever since. While I enjoy creating art in several forms, quilting has become central.
While a traditional quilter in my early years, I have found that improv quilting is pure joy. I feel a bit rebellious not using rulers or patterns, freely cutting fabric, creating quilts that are sometimes a puzzle to put together. It’s a fascinating journey!
In 2016, my son encouraged me to begin a blog about my quilting, so here I am, all these years later. I chat about quilts, improv and traditional, as well as life here at Pieceful Thoughts.
My constant quilt room companion, Wilbs the cat, and I are delighted you have stopped by. We hope you feel welcome here at Pieceful Thoughts.

I wonder if I will take up quilting, as I always thought I would, “when I get older”! Now that I am:)
I’m glad to hear you’re having a go at it. I find it very relaxing, most of the time 🙂
Enjoy doing what you love.
