The UF College of Public Health and Health Professions is committed to its four-part mission of education, research, clinical care and service as the college shapes tomorrow’s public health and health professionals through dynamic and responsive educational programs, transformational research, groundbreaking discoveries and equitable health-related service.
The college houses eight departments: Biostatistics; Clinical and Health Psychology; Environmental and Global Health; Epidemiology; Health Services Research, Management and Policy; Occupational Therapy; Physical Therapy; and Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences.
These disciplines share a common focus on prevention through three different applications along a continuum: disease prevention, early detection and treatment, and limiting the impact of chronic illness.
Education

PHHP prepares students who not only master evidence-based knowledge but also embrace collaboration, compassion and creativity as essential tools for improving lives. The college offers 27 academic programs of study at the bachelor’s, master’s, PhD and professional degree levels as well as several federally-funded training grants. To support increased enrollment in the undergraduate programs, the college has hired new faculty and made significant investment in advising and instructional design resources. The college has also added several new options for minors and certificates.

Research
The college houses eight research centers and institutes dedicated to improving health and wellbeing:
- Breathing Research and Therapeutics Center develops respiratory rehabilitation therapies.
- Center for Genetic Epidemiology and Bioinformatics advances genetic epidemiology, translational population genomics and bioinformatics.
- Center for Pain Rehabilitation Research investigates the experience of pain in humans.
- Center for Statistics and Quantitative Infectious Diseases is devoted to understanding global infectious disease transmission and control.
- Center for Technology and Child Health explores digital technologies and children’s health.
- Institute for Driving, Activity, Participation and Technology promotes mobility and participation across individuals and populations.
- One Health Center of Excellence integrates human, animal and environmental health science.
- Southern HIV and Alcohol Research Consortium reduces HIV transmission linked to alcohol use.
In 2025, PHHP awarded half a million in funding to launch Aging in Place research programs for college faculty. This work is designed to better enable Floridians to age safely in their homes.

Clinical
The UF Health Psychology Specialties practice provides psychological and neuropsychological assessments and evidence-based treatments for a wide range of behavioral concerns and mood disorders. UF SmartDriver Rehab is the area’s only driving rehabilitation service offering evaluations and interventions to improve driving skills of older adults and drivers of all ages.
Service

Faculty, staff and students take an active role in serving the community, including three student-run equal access clinics offering free clinical psychology, occupational therapy and physical therapy services to people who are uninsured or underinsured. In addition, the UF Screen Team provides free speech, language and hearing screening services to area children, and the UF Reading Disabilities Program offers services to evaluate and remediate children and adults with reading and writing difficulties.
