1. Pricing & Commitment
How does PHDwin pricing work?
PHDwin is licensed through professional software leases. Pricing is expressed as an effective monthly cost, with a required minimum commitment billed upfront.
Is PHDwin billed monthly?
No. PHDwin is not a monthly SaaS subscription.
Leases are billed in full at the start of the commitment period (quarterly or annual).
What does “effective monthly cost” mean?
It represents the monthly value of your lease, even though billing occurs upfront for the minimum commitment period.
What is the minimum commitment?
- Quarterly leases require a 3-month minimum
- Annual leases require a 12-month commitment
Why does annual pricing cost less per month?
Annual leases are discounted to reward long-term commitments.
Quarterly leases offer flexibility but have a higher effective monthly cost.
2. Billing Invoicing & Licenses
When am I billed?
You are billed in full at the start of your lease term (quarterly or annual).
Why do I receive a 30-day license after invoicing?
A temporary 30-day license is issued upon invoice delivery to ensure uninterrupted access while payment is processed.
This temporary license is part of your total lease term.
Does the temporary license cost extra?
No. It is included in your lease and automatically transitions to the full license once payment is
confirmed.
Can you invoice my company instead of charging a card?
Yes. PHDwin supports invoicing for corporate and enterprise customers. Our preferred method
of payment is check.
Are there additional fees for paying with a debit / credit card?
A 3.5% convenience fee is added to pay via debit/credit card. All card types are accepted.
3. Plan Differences
What’s the difference between Standard and Network installations?
- Standard Installation is designed for individual users or standalone environments.
- Network Installation supports shared access, centralized data, and multi-user
workflows.
○ A network installation allows users to leverage our License server to allow
PHDwin software to work on multiple machines (if you buy one network, this does
not mean you can work on two machines at the same time, but if one machine
stops using the software, another can jump in and leverage that user access).
Can I start with a Network installation for just one quarter?
Yes. Network installations can be licensed on a quarterly basis, though annual leases offer the
best overall value.
Can I upgrade from Standard to Network later?
Yes. Upgrades are available. Pricing is adjusted based on your existing lease and remaining term.
4. Trials Access & Education
Do you offer a trial?
Yes. A complimentary 14-day trial is available for qualified users.
Do you offer academic or student pricing?
Discounted access may be available for academic researchers and institutions. Please contact sales for eligibility.
Do you offer enterprise plans?
Yes. Enterprise pricing is available for organizations with larger teams, specialized
requirements, or multi-site deployments.
5. Discounts & Value Framing
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes.
● Volume and group discounts are available
● Supported clients receive 10% off training classes, online training, in-person
training (except reimbursement costs for travel / lodging), custom report consulting,
and custom Gulf of Mexico, Off-shore Economics, and International PSC/PSA
modeling consulting fees.
● Additional licenses and training may be discounted based on engagement

6. Renewals & Continuity
What happens when my lease ends?
You may renew your lease quarterly or annually.
Renewing annually provides the lowest effective monthly cost.
What if I renew quarterly for a full year instead of annually?
Renewing quarterly for four consecutive quarters results in a higher total annual cost compared to an annual lease.
