So I think I just ran into the most intriguing advertisement campaign I've seen in a while. I was just minding my own business, trying to watch a YouTube video of a Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari interview. Before the video, they show me an advertisement. I'm about to skip over it, but all of a sudden Terry O'Quinn is in a lab coat and talking to me about discovery and the senses and stuff. I have no idea what it's about, but I check out Survival Code. I click somewhere on the page because I still don't know what's going on. And it shows me this flash video that's basically an extension of the commercial, Terry O'Quinn in a lab coat talking to me the whole time. I'm, like, seconds away from submitting my information to make an account for this thing when I snap out of the daze and read, "By submitting this information, you will be receiving in-game communications including email, direct mail and phone messages." Woah there.

I looked through the YouTube comments for the commercial. Apparently this is for 5 Gum--the chewing gum product. Okay. You almost got me there. But I'll give them props for intrigue. More than a year after the show's over and Locke's still getting me into all sorts of trouble. Maybe I'll make myself an account for this thing anyway. I'm probably this close to unlocking the brainwashing video.

There's this mouse infestation thing going on in my house. It pretty much started last month. My mom saw the first one, but I never saw him. At first, I thought my mom was going crazy or this was some kind of conspiracy, but then I kept hearing things. So, yeah, mouse. The mouse traps accumulated in my kitchen as my dad got more and more batshit crazy about killing the mice. And it's like every time we caught a mouse, we thought that was the last one. A couple of days after the last one, I'd end up seeing another one running around.

So we caught the last one yesterday. But not really. Because I saw one running under the couch just now.

I feel like a homeschooled kid on her first day of high school and in absolute awe over the novelty of turning the dial on her locker. I haven't watched actual TV in a while. Maybe it's been a year or so? Not since all my shows died in various fabulous fashions in May 2010? So, this week, all of a sudden, I'm watching these shows--some of them I know and some of them are airing for the first time. And it's crazy. Television. What a thing.

In other news, holy god, it's a Tintin trailer, from director Steven Spielberg, producer Peter Jackson, and writers Steven Moffatt, Edgar Wright, and Joe Cornish. Be still my inappropriately reactive heart.

So, I went to this new anime convention today. It's on its first year and it coincides with Anime Expo. It's called AM², which is "anime, manga, and music." Get it? Uh. Yeah, the turnout was pretty okay since it was free admission, but the panel attendance was a little dead. I wasn't even planning on going to any conventions this summer since I had no idea what kind of schedule roadblock would jump into my path. My friend invited me to this one. No idea how she heard about this.

Putting this under a cut because I don't know how long I'm going to ramble.Collapse )

Not even gonna lie, when I stepped out onto my porch, I was expecting myself to be back by noon. And then I end up staying at the convention until seven-ish and end up at Disneyland for the evening. Hah.

Okay, so now that I see that I haven't updated since March, let's drag this thing out of the ground and bring it to life. Hey guys. I don't even know who I'm addressing this to. So, I'd like to find out by using these questions that I ganked from thegingerninja.

Answer these!Collapse )

In other news, I've had an exciting week last week. Other than beasting my way through a flu, I watched two movies within the span of 24 hours. I went to the midnight showing of The Green Lantern. And I would say that I'm disappointed, but I was never expecting anything mind-shattering. Then after dinner on Friday, I watched Super 8. Now that's what I call a movie. I was blinded by the combination of lens flares and me crying from how beautiful the movie was. JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg, I can't even. To sum it all up, I pose a question for the general public to answer: how is it a good idea to read your Kindle with the backlight on at full power during a movie? Mothers!

You know what's terrible? The option to tweet your progress on the Lose It! app. I know, I know. Twitter is creepy and scummy and awful on its own. But, you know, I actually like using Twitter, so moving on then. What I don't care for on Twitter is the tweets that say that Friend Person burned 34 calories by walking for five minutes or whatever. If you think the "Drinking coffee in the kitchen" tweets are weird, then you're probably having a seizure over the Lose It! tweets. I actually find a lot of what people say on Twitter entertaining. Simon Pegg works the 140 character limit like the fierce GQMF he is, man. But other people have to find some middle ground in what they write about. Like take me dor example. I'm ranting about Twitter for all to see. Who does that? Honestly.

Ahaha. Sorry about that, guys. I'm laying in bed, trying to fall sleep to the sounds of the wind viciously throwing things around my backyard. I felt the need to go on a pointless tangent about something. Mission accomplished.

So, dinner with my parents today and my server asks me if I need a kids menu. That tends to happen every now and then. I never know what to say, so I just play it cool and reply with, This is fine -poker face forever-. I'm beginning to wonder if I should just start taking them up on the offer so I can see what the kids menus are like nowadays. And if there's a chance that I can get ice cream, I say go for it. XD

I haven't updated in a while. Man, I don't even know what I used to write about in here. Oh, hey, maybe I can do a meme. Let's try to find one. Ah. Post a link to your entries on this day two years ago, last year, nine months ago, six months ago, three months ago and one month ago. If there was no entry on that day, link the closest date.

IF I COULD TUUURN BACK TIME.Collapse )

Sweet mother of all that is holy. I've won an essay contest. And now they want me to read my speech at a dinner and award me with a medallion and serve me French food at a French restaurant and send my essay off to be judged district-wide. I wrote that in the last four hours before it was due. What did I even write? What have I gotten myself into?

Actually, I know what I've gotten myself into. $2,500 scholarship. That's what. With the promise of that much money, bring it on. That does mean that I have to buy another dress though. Oh man.

This has been a post.

I haven't chilled out in Hollywood in four years, so today was pretty epic. I went to see TRON at El Capitan Theatre. This is my second time watching it. First time around, I was hyped up on Red Bull and I had never had one of those energy drinks before. I thought that the movie was pretty awesome then, but this time around was much better. Definitely worth the extra cost. They had this laser show before the movie and it was beautiful. I nearly cried. Epic Daft Punk music was epic.

The movie was cool too. My mom is a huge TRON fan since she and my aunt worked on some of the visual effects for the original movie back. And I've been excited about the movie too, ever since I went to the panel at Comic Con. I was pretty much jumping up and down in my seat whenever they used the crowd audio. 'Cause I do believe that I'm somewhere in the crowd. Did I tell you that they recorded that at Comic Con? But yeah, my family is in agreement that TRON Legacy pretty much fails as a sequel. And we all shook our heads at the confused people who left the theatre asking each other where Tron was in the movie. His part in the movie was sort of lacking. Spoiler: Didn't stop me from buying a Rinzler figurine for my Christmas present though. Can't wait to open it. Once the movie comes out on DVD, I've gotta do some kind of Star Trek XI vs. TRON Legacy comparison. Srsly.

a;kfndalkfn And you know what? It was raining once we got out of the theatre and there were two rainbows over the Hollywood sign. Today was beautiful. So bright. So vivid. Double rainbow.

29 November 2010 @ 04:44 pm
Oh my god. My internet's been gone since Friday. It left all of a sudden and it is never happening again. NEVER. Ah, well. Despite the lack of internet, my Thanksgiving break was fun. While I wasn't forming conspiracy theories that involved a spiteful internet connection wanting me to finish my essays before I let other things distract me, I watched some movies. If you haven't gone out to see Megamind yet, you totally should. I loved it so much. I wasn't expecting it to be so well thought out and clever. Also, I think Will Ferrel is hilarious, so I think that contributed to me liking it that much.

I think it's become some kind of Thanksgiving tradition where I watch inappropriate movies with my elderly grandparents. Last year, I think it was Forgetting Sarah Marshall. This year, I get to my grandpa's house and they're watching Not Another Teen Movie. My sister tells them to change it. Somehow, we end up watching The Expendables instead. Good times.

So, I'm watching the first Harry Potter movie. I see this scene and I lawl so hard that I'm on the brink of an asthmatic fit. If someone reacted this way to a troll every time, I wouldn't even be annoyed with whoever the hell is trolling me. I'd welcome it.
