Christmas Charity
I'm looking for some info - hopefully one of you can help me! Last year I heard (too late) about a program running in Peterborough at Christmas where you could essentially adopt a family. The details I remember are that you got details about a specific family and then filled a re-usable shopping bag (or equivalent) with gift items for that family. Does this sound familiar to anyone and if so can you point me to a link or phone # to get involved with this? I'm pretty sure I remember reading about it on a website somewhere last year, but I can't seem to find it this year. Thanks!! |

Bus service
Hi everyone! I'm going to live in Peterborough from Sept-Feb as I'm getting my teaching degree at Trent. I can't take my car so I'm wondering what the bus service is like over there. I live in Toronto and am pretty used to bus service every 5 minutes from my house so I realize this will be a change! I've checked the website for the Trent express and Route 1 and they come every 20 minutes. That's cool if I'm starting from a terminal, but I'm going to be starting from Hilliard Street so I'm wondering if anyone lives around that area and can tell me when I should be expecting bus service there for both the Trent express and Route 1. I figure it won't be at times like 8AM, 8:20AM, etc. as shown on the website, but earlier/later. Also what in the world is around the Hilliard area in terms of food? There's Joanne's Health and Beauty store, but is there anything else as well? Help a newbie out. :) |

hey peterborough, i'm moving back into town for a year to finally finish my degree at trent. i'm seeking a reasonable ($600 max) 1 bedroom (or large bachelor) apartment for september 1st, though cheaper would be AWESOME. i feel like this is definitely a word-of-mouth kind of town for apartment hunting so if anyone has heard anything, that'd be ace. ideally: - lots of sunlight - laundry on site - close to the trent express bus route (but i'm pretty flex with having to hoof it a bit) thanks! |

Turtle T-shirt Contest
The Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre (KTTC) is having a t-shirt contest. Judging for the t-shirt contest will be based on originality (uniqueness of design), creativity, and best interpretation of the KTTC theme. Submissions for the contest will be accepted from February 1, 2009 to Friday, March 27, 2009. The person who submits the winning design will receive a t-shirt featuring their design, a copy of The Great Big Book of Snakes and Reptiles (donated by Chapters), a pair of tickets to the Canadian Canoe Museum, and media publicity. The design will be posted on the KTTC website.
