I decided to become a published writer.
Sure, self-published, at least for now, but apparently a lot of writers are doing the ‘indie’ thing now. It bypasses all the traditional publishers who often act like protective gatekeepers.
Anyway, I’m not going to argue that case.
This is the page where I’ll tell you about my books, as and when they arrive, and where to get them. Perhaps eventually I’ll work out how to sell my books directly from this website (I need to work out a lot about this website – so bear with me on that one).
For now, then, I have only written one collection.
It’s called Rejected Messages.
This book consists of seven of my short stories as well as several ‘essays’ around the subject matter, which will be familiar to my dearest readers of this website – that’s to say it’s about SETI and messages from ETI and humanity’s reaction and so on. That probably makes it sound a bit tedious, but believe me it’s not. These are some really lovely stories, cinematic and dramatic in places, just beautiful in others.
Update (15/11/25): I have since written two more collections, Immigration Control, and American Visidramas, feat. Unofficial Katy & the Starseeds (Vol. I).
Check out my Substack for more info.
Instead of the self-publishing route (I’m useless as self-promotion and marketing), I am hoping to try my paws at getting a proper publishing deal. If it doesn’t work (that’s to say, after 100 rejections) then I’ll resort to self-publishing.
And perhaps this website can be an alternative author website. Who knows – I refuse to delete it just yet.
Another thing is offering your books for free now and again, partly for promotional purposes. I will almost certainly be doing this myself sometime – check here for notifications about that.
Anyway, as I say, I will endeavour to update this page as and when I have more news. In the meantime, please feel free to leave any reviews in the comments section (even if they’re bad reviews – so long as they’re not simply spiteful, that is).
