Reshipper cartons help balance protecting your products and promoting them. Beyond the bottle, your products (packed in boxes) will be moved, stored, and perhaps still need shelf appeal. PLI helps with the entire process, from design and engineering the cartons through print/order.

You as the producer (or your filler) can leverage PLI for:

  • Receiving a shipment of your decorated bottles, ready to be filled. We assist companies with end-to-end bottle decorating.

Corrugated Cartons (Direct Print)

Applying ink directly onto the corrugated surface. It’s cost-effective and suitable for larger runs where high graphic quality isn’t the primary focus.

Corrugated Cartons (Litho Print)

A lithographic label is printed separately and then adhered to the corrugated material. Excellent for achieving high-quality graphics.

Folding Cartons

Adhesive-backed labels that are pressed onto the container. Extremely versatile and can be printed with intricate, colorful designs.

Custom Rigid Packaging

A heavier box option than folding cartons, noted for their use in luxury and premium products and presentations.

Direct Printing (Corrugated)

“Direct” printing is the preferred reshipper carton when you don’t need high-detail graphics or are packaging bulk or heavy products. This method is adaptable to both large and small production runs, making it ideal for companies who need flexibility in order volume.

These reshipper cartons are widely used for packaging consumer products. Industrial products, everyday consumables, and bulk food or beverage companies choose direct printing on corrugated boxes when speed, practicality, cost, durability, protective functionality, and basic labeling are needed. In many cases, those variables are more important than visual appeal.

Litho Printing (Corrugated)

High-quality Lithographic Labels

“Litho” printing is the preferred method when you need high-detail graphics or a premium appearance. This combines the strength and versatility of corrugated cardboard with the high-quality print capabilities of lithography.

These reshipper cartons are extensively used by our customers. Cosmetics, pharmaceutical companies, and high-end food/beverage producers choose this option when superior visual graphics are needed. The initial higher cost is justified by the value added in customer appeal and product differentiation.

Folding Cartons

Blending functionality, aesthetic appeal, and cost-efficiency.

Folding cartons offer producers a versatile and sustainable packaging solution. Made primarily from paperboard, they offer superior print quality and finish options. While slightly lighter protection than corrugated boxes, they’re valuable for high shelf appeal.

They can be easily customized in terms of shape, size, and design, allowing for unique (and unlimited) packaging ideas to drive point-of-sale visibility. Folding cartons are also often used for promotional and event products because they can be molded, then printed with with vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and detailed graphics.

Corrugated Boxes, Folding Cartons, or Rigid Packaging?

Each type of secondary packaging and re-shipper carton has strengths. We’re here to help advise on your specific application.

  • Product Type & Fragility: Heavier and more fragile products are better suited to corrugated boxes because of their protective qualities. Folding cartons are ideal for lighter and less fragile items. Rigid packaging is heavier (more durable) paperboard than folding cartons.

  • Boxing “Pack” Quantities: Each option has merits; however, product size and weight matters. Corrugated cartons are typically used for 6, 12, or 24 packs while folding cartons are typically used for a single product. While corrugated cartons can hold multiple heavier spirits bottles, folding cartons can easily store multiple lighter-weight cosmetics products.

  • Shipping & Handling: Products that need to be shipped long distances or through potentially harsh handling conditions might require the protective features of corrugated boxes. Unlike folding cartons, rigid boxes are not collapsible.

  • Retail Display: If the product is sold in a retail store or placed in a high-traffic point-of-sale location where appearance significantly influences purchasing decisions, folding cartons might be more beneficial. Rigid packaging frequently features high-end finishes, such as embossing, foil stamping, and special textures.

  • Consider Cost: For budget-sensitive projects, the lower cost and efficiency of folding cartons might be more appealing. Rigid packaging is most appropriate when the cost of packaging is justifiable by the need to convey luxury or value.

  • Environmental: Both options can be made sustainably, but the choice may depend on your company’s specific goals, such as reducing material use or prioritizing recyclable materials.
