  • Welp reflections time I suppose 2024 A to Z

Hello there! Reflections time for the A to Z challenge of 2024. For those of you just wandering in who aren’t participants or need a refresher. A to Z is a one month long where each letter of the alphabet is a writing prompt for the day. Sundays aren’t used so at the end you have written something 6 days a week for a month.

This has been my, I think, 12th year. Last year I didn’t participate because of my Mom’s passing and being one month into a Bell’s Palsy affliction. I wasn’t in the mood, and I couldn’t see properly even if I was. A few days before the start of April this year I went looking for the sign up hoping I still could be on the Master list where other participants can visit you and luckily it was still open, and here we are.

I did enjoy my time this year, it was nice to get back into the swing of things. I still had some difficulties with my vision since the Bells has turned into Synkinesis which is more frustrating in my opinion. Here we are though tip tap typing away.

To all who visited thanks, to those who wrote thanks, to those who did neither Thanks… everyone gets a thank you today just for being you.

  • Catching a Ball

Catching, so many things you can catch aren’t there? You can catch a ball, a cold, a bug. You can catch a thought an idea, a stray cat even. When I was a child I used to enjoy catching a ball. Sun would magically stay out longer and we would go to the park, or just in the road in front of the houses and we would play catch.

I have a mitt here, in the closet.. I can see it from where I sit typing right now. It has two old beaten down balls in it, signed by My younger Daughter. Older daughter wouldn’t really play catch but I did use my mitt to help her with Lacrosse. My Son didn’t enjoy baseball, but the middle child… she played softball, pretty good at it too. Signed baseballs proves it, given as gifts.. see the dust It’s been a while, wonder if she has a glove still.

I think as we get older we get a bit nostalgic for simpler times,. Times spent just casually throwing a ball back and forth as a kid, talking about what? I wish I could remember. Years later playing catch with your own kids, still couldn’t tell you what we talked about I remember the time spent though, and the laughter as a ball went by because we missed it. I miss it… but I didnt miss doing it. Make sure you don’t either.

I’m going to ask if she still has a mitt now.

  • Waiting… for Something?

I wait a lot, I wait in lines, in traffic. I wait in the grocery store and at the gas pumps, I wait for my wife, my kids and sometimes my dogs. We all seem to spend a great deal of time waiting. What do we do while waiting, well what can we do is the question we will answer today.

First, it needs to be said that there are two major branches of waiting. The first is with a cell phone, the second without. Having a cell phone will make waiting much less tedious and yet somehow waste even more time than being without one. I know, that makes little sense time is time and waiting waiting. However, without a cell phone while waiting you are thinking. Currently the only time most folks aren’t being distracted by something. is when they are in the shower. Anyway, I’m guilty too so, with a cell phone.

    1. Play a game, I like Pokemon Go, Angry Birds and Candy Crush.
    2. Browse the web for cat videos
    3. Browse TikTok for cat videos
    4. Kindle E-Reader is nice
    5. Check Email, Messages, Twitter, facebook and on and on and on…..

Then there is the non phone related things that we used to be able to do while waiting. I mean there was a time before social media where people were just social.

    1. Fume that we had an appointment and why am I waiting, think DMV
    2. Talk to people nearby, find out more about them, maybe swap recipes, or discuss Gnome Incursions.
    3. Think of the things you may have forgotten to do, turning off the stove comes to mind (I’ll BRB)
    4. Clean Your Nails.
    5. Think, just think about things maybe invent something cool like Jarts, or Kerbangers.

That’s all for “W” folks I am of course a bit behind but It’s ok… Going outside to play Lawn darts then have a Ker-banger competition… I should be able to type again in a month. Kidding aside, try doing something useful with what time we have instead of sitting on our phones. I’m going to try this week.
    Move time… with a “W”

  • “F” Could be almost anything floccinaucinihilipilification

Not a clue what “F” should be for this 2022’s A to Z Challenge. could be Felgercarb, or Fiddlesticks. Field Rations or Fig Newtons, perhaps even floccinaucinihilipilification: noun; Rare. the estimation of something as valueless (encountered mainly as an example of one of the longest words in the English language). Pronounced [ flok-suh-naw-suh-nahy-hil-uh-pil-uh-fi-key-shuhn ] which is just fun 🙂

Someones Fun website is named this.

I really don’t know what serious thing I could have posted today. Of course, I’m not a huge fan of serious, so it’s going to be ok… at least ok by me 🙂 but what the heck…
Felgercarb is a slang term replacing Crap or Shit in Battlestar Galactica from the 80’s… and was Also used by Lucifer Mourningstar on the TV show Lucifer. Fiddlesticks are an old style game played by children also a League of Legends Character and another name for a bow on a violin (didn’t know that one).

Remember when.. Well that is alright because I do.

Field Rations are meals given to soldiers in the field… they have been called a lot of things over the years but when I ate them they were MRE’s (meals ready to Eat) and gross… so they may have been ready to eat… but I wasn’t ready to eat them. Fig Newtons on the other hand, those I will eat, and eat and eat. I also enjoy Apple Newtons when i can find them 🙂

    Good Ol Newton

That’s all for now. I have visited the fist 30 blogs on the Master List for the A to Z Challenge. I didn’t visit the first few days, had to get my own house in order. I wanted you nice folks to know. Ah yes, almost forgot a movie for folks to watch today.. lets go with a good movie this time. I have been recommending fun but not necessarily good movies the last few. Today lets do The Fugitive, Harrison Ford and Tommy lee Jones.. lots of good quotables in this movie.. and if you’ve been a fan of NCIS and have heard both Tony and McGee do a little speech about outhouses and hen houses.. well this is where it came from.
