I don’t know if I’m getting clumsier or always have been, but now I’m more impatient. I fidget and knock things over and nothing is ever where I need it when I paint. My surroundings seem to be tge childhood scratchy jumper.
I had a painting colleague who was upset when they “fixed” her eyes – they do that with cataract surgery. She liked the glasses–no glasses effect and it was obliterated
I don’t like my eyesight deteriorating at all, but I must say, it allows me to see some pretty magical things. I thought someone had a herd of shetland ponies in their back plot, turned out to be garden furniture under tarpaulin. Depending on the light, it still looks like ponies. Bags in hedges seem to be the item most able to represent fantastical and unexpected things.
Thank you. It’s a mini protest for human fallibility! A mini revolt against those people, we all know them, who say (looking at a drawing, painting they profess to like) ‘it’s a pity that line isn’t straight’, or ‘they haven’t painted over that bit of the canvas/up to the line’ etc.
Sounds like a recipe for successful art.

Thank you, JMN. I’m thinking of writing another one for painting.

Whatever works. I keep hoping my fading eyesight will turn me into Monet…

It’s hard to read though. My macular pucker is unfixable at any rate.

I know a lot of people enjoy them. I don’t even have the patience for a podcast, unfortunately.

Oh yes, I’m always seeing life where there should be none. I don’t mind that at all.

Exactly! And I always think, if you want precision, go to a factory!
