I have gone officially friends-only. If you want me to add you and I'm not responding to your adding me because I've not noticed the new friend on my Info page, then just drop me a comment here.

12:09 am - Cooking! Madness!
Tonight, I cooked...

...savory ham and rice (new recipe, good but not awesome--too healthy-tasting)
...shark
...chicken (pre-cooking for Thursday)
...stew beef (to freeze tomorrow after I skim the broth)
...ground pork (already in freezer)
...boiled eggs
...iced tea (brewed another three-quart container)
...cabbage
...cantaloupe (okay, sulleniguana just chopped it up)

Even Marie got in on the produce-prep action by helping peel carrots for the savory ham and rice recipe.

Our fridge is full!

01:25 am - Book club and bedtime
I posted the first discussion link on Decipher Script here. Yay, go me!

We're also getting ready to pick for February, if anyone wants to get in on the geek book action for next month. The discussion topic is on the community.

And with that--it's so bedtime. Tud!

12:24 am - Wassailing. Not waffling.
I am nearly amused enough by everyone's review of Avatar to have it win out over 2012. arunthol may just have tipped me over. :)

08:05 am - Morning Serenade
All of Marie's stuffed animals are famous this morning.

So far we've had Mane the Pink-Nosed Bunny and Jingle-Leigh-O the Red-Nosed Dog.

10:39 pm - With apologies to Mr. Newton
Amazing Grace as sung to me tonight by Marie

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost in the woods but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

When we've been here nine thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first and second and third begun.

Enough people joined Decipher Script that we are going to try this thing. If you want to read The Mote in God's Eye by Niven and Pournelle with us, head over and join the community!

And conference call over and flaming ducks exploding around my head, so I zoom. Zoom!

09:02 am - As a note
I came back to make this comment to dorsai but I wanted to make it more visible to anyone reading my last post--feel free to make your own list as well! We did debate the list that I posted among our group but I'm thinking from the responses that there may have been iconic books that we missed entirely. There have certainly been books on my list that people haven't read!

Oh, dorsai, and when Turtledove makes your list, know that I proposed him too. :) He (along with de Lint and some others) were just seen as too niche for the general geek list. To me he IS the iconic alternative history writer, though.
