Our History

OFC began when two Bay Area grassroots community-based organizations merged in the late 1990s. We’ve grown over the years to become the leading LGBTQ+ family advocacy agency in the state, and one of the few such organizations of this size nation-wide. Individual families continue to be our inspiration; collective liberation and well-being continues to be our mission.

Our Family Coalition was formed in 2002 through the merger of two organizations:

founded in 1994

East Bay-based Our Family

founded in 1996

San Fransisco-based All Our Families Coaltion

founded in 2002

Our Family Coalition

Our Vision

We seek to create an inclusive and just world where all LGBTQ families and children have visibility and opportunities to thrive as valued participants in our schools, institutions, and communities.

Our theory of change

Our Family Coalition brings a unique and progressive voice of families to the LGBTQ movement. We cultivate community-based leadership among LGBTQ families and strong partnerships with our allies in California, to advance social justice and make our nation a more respectful and inclusive place for all.

Thank you for joining us in celebrating and supporting LGBTQ families.

Every contribution, whether one-time or monthly, helps us honor the extraordinary LGBTQ families in our community. Our Family Coalition is the only organization in California dedicated to advancing equity and advocating on behalf of our families, and one of the few nationwide. By giving, you stand with us in pride and solidarity, ensuring that every family feels seen, valued, and celebrated. Your support has been crucial and with your help we can continue this legacy for generations.
