A tribute to my mother for Mother’s Day

This is a little late getting posted today as I’ve been trying to catch up on my blogging. However, my mother has been on my mind all day for obvious reasons, so to put my mind at ease, I would like to pay tribute to her. I was so honored and very lucky to call this woman “Mom”. May she RIP and know where ever she is that she is as much loved today as she was when I was so blessed to have her here in this life to converse with and to confide in.

My mother in 1976 at my brother’s wedding.

To all mother’s everywhere in celebration of ‘our’ day, I wish to you a very Happy Mother’s Day.

Sunday Photo Challenge . Work

Installing New Windows

This was a little home improvement job I had going on, when I was in Danville.

This one includes a glimpse of ‘painting the kitchen’… an upcoming post for this weeks Sunday Challenge. The red trim is new, too.

A preview at what was going on outside.

A better view of the ‘before’ on that outside window.

Side view of the house outside. All of the first floor windows were replaced. The upper level windows (not shown) had already been replaced, and the basement was saved for later. Later never came (that I know of).

RIP Commonsense

This is from an e-mail I got. I have no idea who wrote it originally, but they did a bang up job … this is sad, but true, too often today.

An Obituary printed in the London Times…..Absolutely Brilliant!!!

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense , who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
– Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
– Why the early bird gets the worm;
– Life isn’t always fair;
– and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason
He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I’m A Victim

This is a heartbreaking reality that, we, the people of the world, could have an influence on simply by boycotting corporations that abuse their livestock. There is no reason to be inhumane to any animal, even if that animal is primarily raised for slaughter. I sometimes wonder who the animals really are.

Weekly photo challenge . Unfocused # 5

This topic will soon be expired, so I’m going for the gusto while I can … have you ever wondered what happens when you drop the camera and snap a shot at the same time? Well, here you have it. I thought this was a pretty cool photo, even though it was unintentional. So I kept it. I knew one day it would come in handy. Today is that day! Enjoy.

Butterfingers at work.

Sunday Photo Challenge. Vehicle

Jack and the orples are getting aggravated with me for leaving them out of the loop, since my blog is theoretically supposed to be about them. It seems they’ve gotten lost in the shuffle. Thus, Jack wanted to show off his vehicle … his new bike!

Page 9 from my book “The Orples Learn To Read”… coming soon.

weekly photo topic . unfocused #4

Man, I must be a horrible photographer because I just keep coming up with unfocused shots. This one was a heart breaker. 😦

Down on ‘the’ Farm.

Weekly Photo Challenge. Unfocused #3

This was one of my riding trails when Magi was boarded on ‘the’ farm. It’s hard to take a photo from the back an eager horse sometimes. 🙂

Hazy trail in the Fall.

This effects us all. Heads up, people.

Once again, I apologize for getting off track, but people need to be aware of our dire situation as citizens of the Planet Earth. Nationality ceases to matter on this subject. If these Elite few ever achieve their goal of taking down America, the whole world suffers … which is why, from time to time, I wander into the world of politics. Be warned …..

Hastening The March To A North American Union And Global Governance

The ultimate goal of the elites is to create a one world socialist government.

The march toward a union of the United States, Canada and Mexico — and ultimately global government — continues apace.

The ultimate goal of the elites is to create a one world socialist government. They have succeeded in combining most of Europe into a European Union (though the economic disaster there caused by the excessive corruption of the banksters, who overplayed their hands, may cause it to fly apart and the euro to crash). But even now we hear of a sinister plot by a covert group of EU foreign ministers who want to gain sweeping control over the entire EU and force member countries into ever-greater political and economic union.

Condolences to Goober Pyle, may he RIP

Normally I don’t keep up with celebrities, but every now and then, an Icon passes worthy of remembrance. Anyone that grew up in America in the 1960’s, no doubt remembers Goober. Sadly, it is time to bid him farewell.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — George Lindsey, who spent nearly 30 years as the grinning Goober on “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Hee Haw,” has died. He was 83.

A press release from Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home in Nashville said Lindsay died early Sunday morning after a brief illness. Funeral arrangements were still being made.

Lindsey was the beanie-wearing Goober on “The Andy Griffith Show” from 1964 to 1968 and its successor, “Mayberry RFD,” from 1968 to 1971. He played the same jovial character — a service station attendant — on “Hee Haw” from 1971 until it went out of production in 1993.
