ORPHEUS Training
Membership of ORPHEUS gives you access to a suite of flexible training supports, most of which can be tailored to your institutional needs. The ORPHEUS Executive Committee (EC) has substantial expertise in research supervisor and doctoral student training. There is also extensive experience amongst colleagues across the network.
The suite of topics which we can offer institutions in relation to supervisor training, is highlighted in the table below. Beside each topic, is the name of the Executive Committee member who can deliver training in a variety of formats such as seminars, workshops, masterclasses or Train the Trainers.
This suite of activities is designed to support institutions at all stages in their doctoral training journey, from beginners to those more experienced. Many of these supports are offered online or remotely and some are also available for in-person delivery.

Normally these sessions are short and slot into an existing programme of activity within an institution or Graduate School.
Interactive Workshop (1 day)
ORPHEUS has developed a one-day, interactive training programme in supervision that covers three key areas in research supervisory practice; professional conduct in supervision, relationship building between student and supervisor and conflict resolution.
This long established and successful programme, includes working group activities, topical presentations and is focused on peer learning and community building amongst supervisors.
