12:39PM - I'm older than I look
Folks ask me how old I am and I respond with, "I'm 99! Don't I look great?!"
I paid off my house in 2007. Since property records are public records anyone can collect them and redistribute the information. Someone figured out to take notice of when houses get paid off by the owner because there's moola/equity in that there abode. Also, most folks pay off their house when they're older, e.g. in their 60's and most likely retired.
So I'm on someone's list of Old Folks (who, ostensibly, wish nothing more than to part with their savings). I get AARP notices. I get reverse-mortgage ads. And today, a milestone: PRE-PAID CREMATION!!!!
Get ready to kiss me Lord, I'm a-comin' to ya!

(Luckily, these folks included a business reply envelope. Maybe I'll send 'em some ashes from the burn pile and tell 'em I went ahead and saved cash by doing it myself.)

Whew. Oh man, that was hard. I just gave notice at work. End of Sept (+/-) I'll be unemployed. Then it's either work in Antarctica or travel the world. Breathe... The Adventure continues! On to the next thing!

9:38AM - Burglary!
Came home last night to find that someone had broken into my house Thursday night. Smashed a window. A drop of blood in the living room. Rush of adrenaline, non-linear yet focused brain, not exactly useful. They were in my house for a long time cuz there's a helluva mess. They went through boxes. Some replaceable stuff is gone and toiletries... wtf, toiletries? Someone homeless?
Photos and important stuff is still here. Nice police forensics guy. Many surfaces now covered in (finger-printing) graphite. Still found tiny bits of humor, "What? No thank you note?"
Didn't sleep much last night. Strange, cartoony dreams in between sleeplessness and a stew of emotions. Stomach in knots this morning.
Thanks very much to Spike and Dave G. for coming to help out, spending the night.
Time to clean up stuff, call insurance, and ignore desires to make extreme lifestyle changes.

if i ever get another dog, i'm gonna name him Chair (or Spatula, if female). that's mainly so i can stand on my porch and scream, "Chair! Chair! Get back in the house!" or "Spatula! Spatula! Come here! It's time for dinner!"

Good ol' Sodium and his company, Celestial Power, are gonna install Solar Power at my house, starting this coming week. 3000 watts of pure madness! I gave him the 'go-ahead' on Saturday.
