So this is a first, two posts in one day. I think I've gone months without posting one post in one day....
Ah. Points. Being pointy.
I follow Feminist Frequency on Facebook. I follow multiple organizations, but lately Feminist Frequency and that lovely woman who does videos on women & tropes in fiction and games have captured my eyes.
None of this makes sense if I don't preface this. I discovered filk music in college, a natural progression following my father teaching me to read with the Hobbit, aged 5. This is the father that I last saw watching the 3rd XMen movie and the 7th Harry Potter movie at the same time. Last night it was Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp. I come by the speculative fiction obsession honestly. But yes, filk in college. I eventually found Leslie Fish, Heather Alexander & others.
Tonight, I'm scrolling to check on my friends in South Korea--one is headed to a music festival, the other will be home alone, and given the time difference, I can have much fun chatting...but I digress. There it is...a link. The name seems fun. And I click.
Wait a minute. John Scalzi wrote a blog about this music video. And I was watching it, and thought... This is awesome. And then I composed a LJ to send it out to my fandom friends. Because I have said this before, and I'll say it again. Women, both cisgendered and not are wonderful, and have just as much sense to be geeks as anyone else.
