OppFund congratulates Mayor-Elect Mary Sheffield, Detroit’s first woman elected mayor, on this historic achievement. Her leadership signals a new chapter focused on equity, housing stability, and small business growth—priorities that align closely with OppFund’s mission to expand access to capital and strengthen communities.
In support of this vision, OppFund CEO Byna Elliott has been appointed to the Housing Development & Planning Committee for the Rise Higher Detroit transition team. With decades of experience in community development and equitable lending, Byna will help shape housing and development priorities for the Administration’s First Term Action Plan.
