What is The First Switch Internship?
We serve, equip, and connect the body of Christ and its leaders to advance God’s kingdom among all people.
This internship with OC is a six-month experience designed to help young people grow in their relationships with the Lord and to develop tools and gain experience in making disciples. The First Switch is an online course, with a two-week intensive in Bali. Interns will be taught and coached by OC workers with years of experience in both Spiritual Formation and Disciple Making Movements (DMM).
Take a season of your life to allow God to “flip a switch” in your heart while also using you to “flip a switch” in others. The time is now.

FAQS
How much does it cost?
$1250 for the 6-month program not including travel costs (like airfare). Total costs are dependent on the price of travel. The program itself is $1250, which covers admin fees, accommodation, and food in Bali. If cost is an issue, please contact TFSinternship@oci.org.
What is a cohort?
Cohort is just a fancy word for a small group. Our vision is that you will be able to join or create a “cohort” in your home town. That way you have a group of people that you are meeting regularly with in person while you all go through the online course. The hope is to have 4 people to a cohort.
How do I form my own cohort?
Your cohort can be made up of your friends in your area, members of your church, or really anyone who’s in your area who is interested in deepening their hunger for missions and widening their biblical worldview. You can either join a cohort that has already been created, or you can form your own with people who you know. As you go through the application process, there will be a team of people that will help you along the way in finding a cohort that’s best for you.
Why Bali?
The TFS two-week intensive is in Bali because of the great opportunity to engage with actual disciple making movement leaders in an English-speaking context. During the 2 weeks, TFS interns will have opportunity to go along with these movement leaders to watch, learn from and participate in making new groups of disciples.
What is the format of The First Switch Internship?
The 6-month program begins in June with 2 weeks in Bali, Indonesia. Following Bali, the participants go back to their home contexts to develop their cohorts and start doing the DMM and Spiritual Formation principles and practices where they live as they receive coaching and spiritual direction from their OC mentors.
Starting in September, the participants meet weekly online as a whole group for further instruction and training. In addition, participants will continue going out and practicing the principles and patterns that they are learning in their community and among their circles of influence. By doing so, we anticipate that the participants will be able to start new groups of disciples that multiply up to the 3rd generation. Finally, the program will finish with a graduation/completion celebration online before the Christmas holidays.
Can I be a part of TFS if I am working or a student?
Yes! TFS was designed so that a working person or student can participate. Online courses will be on weekends and the weekly commitments is around 10 – 15 hours weekly.
How is The First Switch Internship different from other internships or programs?
OC’s First Switch Internship is practical, you learn while doing. Every week you go out and try to practice what you have been taught. At the same time, you are part of a cohort that is going through similar experiences as you, so that you can learn from each other and be an encouragement to each other. Each cohort is guided by an experienced ministry coaching overseer.
OC’s TFS Internship majors on developing or instilling spiritual formation and disciple-making habits and patterns that will last a lifetime and will help you make an impact for years to come.
By faith we are anticipating TFS interns will be able to start new groups of disciples that start other groups of disciples that start other groups of disciples (up to 3rd generation) within the 6-month program.
