OmniPeek is a professional network protocol analyzer and performance troubleshooting tool developed by WildPackets (later known as Savvius). It provides real-time packet capture and deep analysis across wired Ethernet and 802.11 wireless networks, combining granular packet decodes with expert diagnostics to quickly pinpoint latency, loss, and application issues. Engineers can visualize traffic by conversations, flows, and top talkers; monitor bandwidth, round-trip time, and retransmissions; and drill down from dashboards to individual frames. OmniPeek includes specialized VoIP and video analysis (with call-flow views and quality metrics), WLAN troubleshooting (channel utilization, roaming, and 802.11 health), and network forensics features such as powerful filtering, indexing, and session/file reconstruction. Distributed capture is supported through remote capture engines and appliances, enabling high-speed, multi-segment visibility with centralized analysis from a Windows-based console. An SDK and plug-in architecture support customization and integration. OmniPeek is used by network operations, performance engineering, and security teams to accelerate root-cause analysis, validate changes, and maintain service quality.
