Water, candles, tobacco, coffee & a little bit of food

this is heaven, let me tell yuh, & plenty books on which to brood

sittin’ here, way out here, in the middle of a starry night

warmin’ up some coffee in the tall flame candle light

~

The desert is quiet as a shooting star, a crawling ant

no motors, no traffic, no people, no Tower o’ Babel chant

just me here & a thousand cacti standing around outside

sending me telepathic choruses of “dig on the quiet, Clyde”

~

Every once in a while I like to take a couple days off

can’t afford four this week or beef stroganoff

but I can sit gratefully in the midst of Jehovah’s gift

a kind gentle place where my mind can ring like a bell or just drift

An angel appeared to Mary with a message from God

that awarded everlasting meaning to her life in the sod

she was asked to be God’s betrothed & give birth to His son

she accepted and poof ~ 9 months later our calendar begun

~

Yeeeeeeeap, she was asked to accept a mission from God

and she accepted the mission with a firm little nod

how would you, oh reader, like to be given a mission from God?

would you accept it, or bury your head in the sod?

~

Don’t lean too close to the quiet or you might hear

a very divine message but not through your ear

that, should you accept it, you’re on a mission from God

and if you refuse it, well, jack-off and shoot your wad

~

Shoot it at the mirror & watch it drip down your face

‘cuz that’s close as you’ll get to finding something to replace

courageously setting forth upon a mission from God

like sweet mother Mary did with her firm little nod
