This blog will contain a list of acts and artifacts of what Dr. Fuz Rana would term ‘human exceptionalism’ over a period of 37,000 years. It is not an exhaustive list, so keep checking back, because I will add more findings to it as they become available. I post this blog as proof that humankind has existed more than 6,000 years on the earth, as the young-earth creationists claim. My current theory postulates that Adam and Eve were created ~ 50,000 years ago, and that the Flood occurred ~13,000 years ago, understanding that the genealogies of Genesis 4 and 5 are incomplete. Here is the list so far, not yet arranged in relative chronological order:
Ostrich eggshell beads, Mumba Cave, Tanzania –33,000 to 29,300 B.C.
Shell beads, Mandu Mandu Creek Rock Shelter, Australia – 30,000 B.C.
Quartzite slabs depicting animals, Apollo 11 cave, Namibia – 25,500-23,300 B.C.
Woolly mammoth figurine, Swabian Jura, Germany — ~30,000 B.C.
Lion-man figurine, Stadel Cave, Germany – ~40,000 B.C.
Marine-shell beads in Turkish and Lebanese caves – 43,000-39,000 B.C.
Animal art in Lascaux cave, France — ~ 17,000 B.C. (artwork of deer, bison, horses and mammoths)
Animal art in Chauvet cave, France — ~32,000 B.C. (artwork of deer, bison, horses, mammoths, hyenas and leopards)
Ivory flute, cave near Ulm in southern Germany – 37,000—30,000 B.C.
Bone needles with eyelets, Liaoning Province, China – 30,000—23,000 B.C.
Venus of Hohle Fels, Germany – 40,000—35,000 B.C.
Several ivory flutes in Geissenkloesterle Cave, Germany – 43,000—42,000 B.C.
Bone tools, Blombos Cave, South Africa – 40,000—35,000 B.C.
Bitumen for tooth fillings — ~13,000 B.C.
Evidence of grass huts, hearth and agriculture, Ohalo II site, Israel, ~ 23,000 B.C.
Domestication of dogs — still being debated
Twisted and dyed flax fibers (ropes, clothing?), Republic of Georgia, ~34,000, 21,000 and 13,000 B.C.
Ceramic pottery fragments, probably models of animals, Vela Spila, Croatia, 17,500–15,000 B.C.
Ceramic pottery fragments, Yuchanyan Cave, China, ~18,000–17,000 B.C.
Venus figurine, Willendorf, Austria, 24,000–22,000 B.C.
There have been at least 200 Venus figurines found on the continent of Europe, dating from 38,000 BC to 10,000 BC, implying the existence of what is probably (in my opinion) fertility cult worship.
