More pub info
I've added a note to the entry for the Alexandra Arms in Petersfield - apparently currently closed but hopefully reopening too. |

OGCam news, September 2012
Again, not much news to report since my last bulletin, but the Unicorn in Trumpington is now the Lord Byron, the Ship in King's Hedges is reported to now have real ale, and the Osborne Arms on Hills Road may have closed (can anyone confirm this?) |

OGCam news, June 2012
Hello! There haven't really been any recent notable edits on the Open Guide to Cambridge, though it now knows about the Lion Yard car park having closed and the Grand Arcade car park having opened in its place. The Rainbow Cafe isn't on the guide, but here's a bad review of it. Hopefully there will be more news to put in the next News! |

OGCam news, April 2012
Hello! Here are some details of recent notable edits on the Open Guide to Cambridge. The Devonshire Arms has been chosen as the Cambridge and District CAMRA Pub of the Year. The Zebra on Maids Causeway remains closed, and is now owned by a property developer with plans to replace it with flats. The Unicorn in Cherry Hinton also remains closed. A planning application to convert it to residential use has been refused, but this refusal is being appealed. We now have an entry for the Cafe On The Round, just off Bridge Street. This entry was added by the proprietor, so is fairly stub-like — has anyone been? Also of possible interest: Cambridge and District CAMRA are running three ale trails during April and May. |

OGCam news, February 2012
Hello! Here are some details of recent notable edits on the Open Guide to Cambridge. (Some of this may be old news, but OGC only found out about it recently.) The Unicorn in Cherry Hinton has closed. As far as I know, Cherry Hinton now has only two pubs: the Red Lion and the Robin Hood, the latter of which is really a Harvester-type thing rather than a proper pub. The First and Last on Melbourne Place also closed, though may have reopened again — anyone know? Finally, an anonymous editor has added some praise for the food at the Fitzwilliam Museum. |

OGCam news, December 2011
Hello! Here are some details of recent notable edits on the Open Guide to Cambridge. (Some of this may be old news, but OGC only found out about it recently.) Greene King have sold the Zebra on Maids Causeway, though I don't know who bought it or what they plan to do with it. The Hopbine on Fair Street has reopened. The Cricketers on Melbourne Place has been renamed to the First and Last. The Red Lion in Cherry Hinton has been taken over by the people behind the Salisbury Arms. Some open questions: Cambridge CAMRA reports that the lease of the Red Bull in Newnham is up for sale, but I don't know whether the pub is remaining open during this. Anyone? I am still wondering about Ali Baba on Hills Road. The Bun Shop on King Street is now the Jolly Scholar, but does it still belong to D'Arry's? Does anyone have any other news? |

Ali Baba
Passing through Cambridge on a bus the other day, I noticed that Ali Baba on Hills Road appears to now be called Sahara. Does anyone know if this is the same management/chef/etc, or if it's a completely new establishment? Anyone been in? |

Cross Keys closed?
Someone's just commented on the Cross Keys page of the Cambridge Guide to say that they think it might have closed. Anyone walked past (or indeed been in) recently? |

First Class Teas closed.
Some sad news... First Class Teas on Peas Hill has closed. I really liked that place! You can still get their teas online, though (and I have just purchased some). Edit: And I have just got an email saying that I've been refunded. Apparently the normal online trading is suspended until the new year. Apparently the owner recommends that people go to Benet's cafe on King's Parade instead, now. Anyone been to Benet's, and want to write it up for OGC? |

Bun Shop reopened.
I've just spotted on cambridgeuk that the Bun Shop has reopened; and a little Googling reveals that it's now an annexe to D'Arry's across the road. I haven't taken the "Now Closed" category off the OGC page, because I don't know whether the name is still the same. Anyone know? Anyone visited or got an updated photo of the new incarnation? |

Alimentum special offer. Alimentum have a special fixed price menu next Tuesday (17 June); three courses for £25. The reason for this is that they're testing out how their new jazz nights are going to work out, and they need a full restaurant for a proper run-though. (Although it is tempting, I'll be working late that evening and so a trip from London is not plausible — but I thought some of you lot might be interested.) While I'm here: anyone been anywhere new and interesting recently? Been anywhere old and interesting that has an OGCam entry that needs updating? Thought of any new features you'd like added to the guide? Taken any photos that might come in handy? |

Another short outage.
The server which hosts the Open Guide to Cambridge will be rebooted around noon tomorrow (Tuesday 27 May) in order to switch to a new kernel version. Downtime should be less than 15 minutes. |

Station Tandoori / Tandoori Station
Does anyone know if Station Tandoori is still open? An anonymous commenter just added "The website and email services were suspended on 22nd January 2008." to the OGC page, and the website certainly does seem to have disappeared. There's nothing obvious on cam.misc. |

Bakers Arms, East Road.
Someone just added the Bakers Arms to OGCam; apparently it's just reopened in a new incarnation. Anyone able to go and check it out? (Actually, anyone still reading this?)

Change of management at the Elm Tree.
I've just learned that the Elm Tree will be under new management from the end of this month. The fish tank has already gone, and the jazz will be following soon. The new landlord plans to make the pub much more ale-focused, with a total of ten handpumps. |
