OUR STORY
“The most crucial point in mission is not what one announces, but what one lives, what one is.”
– His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durrës,
and All Albania, of blessed memory
Transformation in the context of Orthodox missions is anchored by the spiritual renewal that comes from living out the Gospel. It emphasizes the profound change that occurs within individuals and communities when they embrace a mission mindset.
Embracing a mission mindset
To embrace a mission mindset is to see beyond the walls of our churches and the comfort of familiar surroundings. It is a commitment to act, to engage, and to participate in God’s transformative work across the globe. It calls us to support, with our resources and our presence, the establishment and growth of vibrant Orthodox communities.
What is a vibrant Orthodox community?
A vibrant and self-sustaining Orthodox community not only nurtures its members’ faith and well-being; it embodies Orthodoxy’s rich traditions by inviting the world to experience the power of Christ’s love.

Our impact through the years
For centuries, mission work has been a cornerstone of the Orthodox faith, guided by the apostolic duty to share the Gospel. Founded on this sacred belief, the Orthodox Christian Mission Center was established, continuing the divine mandate to “make disciples of all nations.” Since our first missionaries were sent to Kenya in 1985, we have worked to bring all people into the fullness of life in Christ.
