VTech V.Flash (2006 – 2007)

The V.Flash was a video game console that was aimed at children aged 6 and up. Called a ‘home edutainment system’ by the maker, VTech, games involved well-known characters such as Spiderman and Spongebob Squarepants with questions to answer to progress through the game.

The discs were called V.Discs, and were essentially a CD-ROM in a special caddy that helped protect the disc from scratches and fingerprints caused by careless handling by children.

The V.Flash could also play audio Compact Discs using a special tray that was provided with the console, and there was an optional memory card available to save game data.

Despite offering 3D graphics, the console was not a commercial success and was discontinued in 2007, with just 10 game titles produced for the system.
