Nutbush City Limits is a down-to-earth breakfast spot right in the heart of Onalaska, serving up hearty portions of classic American comfort food with a Southern twist. Locals and visitors alike come here for a generous breakfast that stretches well beyond the usual eggs and toast, welcoming a crowd that appreciates both familiar flavors and some more inventive options like Beer Batter Pancakes or Loaded Mexican Hash Browns.

The atmosphere is casual and friendly, the kind of place where you can drop in for a solo morning meal or gather with friends for a leisurely weekend brunch. On busy mornings, the space hums with an easy-going energy, though it can get a bit lively when larger groups wait for tables, which reflects how popular this neighborhood fixture is. Despite the bustle, the staff remain approachable and attentive, contributing to a welcoming vibe that often turns first-timers into regulars.

The menu is varied enough to suit many tastes—whether you're craving traditional items like Biscuits and Gravy or Southern Benedict, or looking to try something different like a Reuben sandwich or the patty melt later in the day. Portions skew generous, making it a solid pick for those who prefer to leave satisfied or take some of their meal to go.

If you come for breakfast, consider arriving a bit early on weekends to avoid the crowd rush and snag a spot near the window where natural light highlights the cozy, no-frills décor. The spot also seems a local favorite for accommodating dietary needs without sacrificing on taste, a thoughtful touch in a small-town scene.

Nutbush City Limits has more of a community diner feel than a polished brunch café, and that’s part of its charm. It suits those who want their food straightforward, their servers friendly, and their seats a comfortable spot to catch up or fuel up before a day of exploring Onalaska.

Good food and service. I liked the place and would go back. Also there was to much food for me to eat so you get your monies worth.

We will go again and again! #1 the service was amazing. How often do we get to say that? #2 the breakfast menu was large and varied. #3 YUM! #4 large meal to take home

Food and service were great!. We enjoied the Loaded Mexican Hashbrowns, a Beer Battered Pancake, and the County Fried Steak. Only a complaint was after we were seated a group waiting for a table gathered right behind us and was extremely loud. Even the staff were annoyed because they were blocking their way to other tables multiple times.

Love, love this place! I often go for breakfast because they have options for my allergies. But, I usually go with friends who also love it! The food is delicious the service is great! Friday fish is also wonderful highly recommended the beans!

Had breakfast. Was delicious, nice sized servings. Food comes out hot. The 2 young servers were super courteous and friendly. Makes your meal so much nicer having a person with the right personality waiting on your table. Had a very enjoyable time visiting and eating with a couple old buddies. Will be back

Great place for breakfast. We ordered the ultimate omelette and the Bravacado Benedict. The omelette was so large. We weren’t even able to finish half of it. But it was good. The Benedict was ok. I would probably try something different. Good atmosphere. Family friendly vibes for all. Overall I’d recommend to visit as it’s not a restaurant chain.

Service was really good, food came out hot and it didn't take that long. Very nice portions of food and my burger was really good. I'd eat here again if I'm in the area, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to do it. If I have anything less positive to say, it would be that I felt the prices were a bit high, but that seems to be the standard these days. Definitely not over the top by any means. Also, please update the online menu, it's really old.
