Healthcare services hold a distinct and vital place among the fundamental needs of human beings. However, in order to deliver effective healthcare services to society, various components must come together under minimum required conditions, and this integration must be sustainable. The nursing profession is one of the most influential determinants of the quality of healthcare services. This is because the moments when the art of nursing is practiced are the most intensive points of contact experienced by the patient during the delivery of care.

The foundation of providing high-quality care lies in receiving nursing education from competent professionals, under appropriate conditions, and in a sufficient manner. Transformations in the healthcare sector, increasing national and international competition, the growing importance of healthcare quality, and the indispensability of patient and employee satisfaction have collectively underscored the necessity of delivering nursing education at the undergraduate level in order to ensure a qualified workforce.

Aware of this importance, Izmir University of Economics, under the Faculty of Health Sciences, offers a Nursing Department with the aim of educating and training healthcare professionals and academic staff who:

• Can deliver education and services aimed at protecting and promoting public health,

• Contribute to the profession and the scientific community by generating knowledge at a universal level,

• Are culturally competent,

• Embrace ethical principles and a team-based approach,

• Are confident in problem-solving and conducting research.

Since its establishment, Izmir University of Economics has been a pioneer of innovation. Within this framework, our four-year nursing program is conducted by a nationally recognized and experienced academic staff in accordance with the Bologna Process. The curriculum integrates theoretical instruction with laboratory and clinical practice. Beginning in the spring semester of the first year, students participate in hospital-based clinical training. Furthermore, our department offers opportunities for student and faculty exchanges and collaborative projects with foreign universities, thereby enabling graduates to pursue employment opportunities both in Turkey and abroad.
