Small Systems – Big Performance: How to Select the Right PFAS Removal Technology for Your Rural System Per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) can be found everywhere and regulations globally are on the rise. For rural and small districts, the financial cost of meeting EPA requirements poses a big challenge. It is estimated that up to 6,700 water systems in the US – many of them rural districts – may have to take action to reduce PFAS levels. While your system may be smaller than the large communities, it doesn’t mean the challenges are any easier. The good news is many of the rules that apply to larger systems regarding the proper selection of PFAS removal systems can be applied to any sized plant.

This webinar will provide participants with a playbook for selecting and implementing the Best Available Technology (BAT) for PFAS removal. We’ll briefly cover the current state of regulation and recent changes, and explore, more in-depth, media types and selection based on water characteristics. Finally, small system design will be discussed as well.

Water Storage Asset Management: Using Protective Coatings to Create an Unlimited Life Cycle (1 Hour) This presentations primary focus will be to discuss the details of water storage tank interior lining and exterior coating systems called out in AWWA D102, how to identify them, their properties, benefits, and most importantly their expected life cycles and cost of ownership.

This presentation will also discuss how water tank asset management and inspections factor into properly maintaining a coating system and how to identify corrosion before it becomes a problem. AWWA M42 Manual on “Steel Water Storage Tanks” offers support for this approach stating: “A good, comprehensive preventive maintenance program can extend the life of an existing tank indefinitely.

Why Cellular AMI Is the Modern Utility Standard Cellular Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) has emerged as a transformative communication architecture for water, gas, and electric utilities by leveraging existing LTE, LTE M, NB IoT, and 5G networks rather than requiring the construction and upkeep of proprietary mesh or fixed RF networks. This approach eliminates the capital and operational burdens associated with towers, collectors, and repeaters, enabling utilities to modernize swiftly and cost effective.

Cellular AMI also delivers operational benefits: real time interval data, enhanced alarms, improved leak and pressure monitoring, and compatibility with major meter manufacturers—avoiding costly meter replacements. These capabilities support advanced analytics, customer engagement, and smart city integrations while lowering total cost of ownership through predictable data plan based operating expenses instead of RF network maintenance.
