All they do is sit around, watch TV or play games and ask for food. And my mother lets them.
Today they were supposed to go through their toys and decide which ones they were willing to toss, in addition to getting their books out of boxes and on their bookshelf. Suddenly my mother decides that's too much work and will help* them with that tonight. Meanwhile my mother forgot that her coworker will be coming to our house to set up a wi-fi network, and that happened to be today, so I'm cleaning up the house to make ti look presentable. I don't MIND doing all of this, but it's really irritating to be doing it while cleaning up after the trash my brothers make, stepping on the blocks they're supposed to NOT have on the floor all over the house, and having to stop every twenty minutes because they're suddenly dying of thirst again and can't open their own soda cans. I just wish they would do SOMETHING besides laze around all day, but whenever I ask them to do something they have to whine and complain that "my arms are tired!" And when they're not bitching at me for being the worst sister ever just because I told them to pick up their lunch dishes, they're fighting with each other over the boxes they're not supposed to play with in the first place.
It didn't just start today, either. I can't remember the last time they cleaned their room/s all by themselves. Why? Because they know that if they whine to mom and dad enough they'll give in and make me help* them. Yes, they even told me this was true. but my parents don't care. They'll wonder why it was dirty in the first place and ask me about that.
And don't get me started on what happened (or didn't happen) this weekend, where my mother was going to show them how to do laundry but never did. Yeah, that's probably my fault because I had to go to work (where, might I add, I clean). Today, I'm the one doing laundry.
They're not two year olds. They're 7 and 9. They can pick up their own rooms, open their soda cans, and do chores. Or they would if they weren't babied so much.
*"help them" here is translated to "do it for them"
Today is my brother's 7th birthday, and we've been planning his party for months now. I've been cleaning for pretty much that length of time, too.
Cleaning time is a bad time to be around my mother, who gets into a psycho mood about how the house looks.
"Go clean the mural in the dining room, honey."
"Mom, there is no mural in the dining room."
"WTF IS WRONG WTIH YOU I TOLD YOU TO PAINT THAT MURAL 5 SECONDS AGO! NOW THE PARTY'S RUINED!!!"
Okay, she's not TOTALLY like that, but it gets crazy. Remember when I mentioned yesterday that I spent the better part of my afternoon cleaning bathrooom tile grout? What kid's going to check that?
My brother had a list of people to invite, some of them not living in our neighborhood. There's no easy way to contact the friend of a 6 year old when they're not in the immediate vicinity. At least not when this kid's involved. He didn't have phone numbers of corrext spellings of last names. But somehow, we managed to get invites to all of them but one.
Party day came with a morning full of crazy cleaning and some of that the night before.
NOBODY CAME. NOBODY.
One kid just happened to run out of his ADHD meds today. One kid promised he'd come this morning but forgot about the relatives coming over. One kid left to go do something and hasn't shown up yet. One happened to be an adult and never showed, and one kid never called to cancel.
Oh yeah, did I mention three of these people live on the same street? Two across the street and one next door, no less.
I am so damn pissed. My brother was looking forward to this and everyone ended up rejecting him.
Therefore, I am declaring today National Go-Kick-Children day.
EDIT: Okay, one kid came. However, that ne kid just HAD to be the one I can't stand and showed up 20 minutes before the party was scheduled to be over. And he brought no gift for him.
- Current Mood:
pissed off
So I've been spending my afternoon on my hands and knees cleaning tile grout. It's not hard to do, but damn, there's so much of it!
Note to those of you who do/will do housecleaning: If you ever need to clean grout, use a steam cleaner. Cleaning it will be easier and the limited steam capacity and time it takes to warm up/cool down give you a good excuse to take a break.
I'm working on getting a prize from My Coke Rewards. The prize is a Wii console, which is worth 6250 points.
While I know simply buying a Wii would be a lot cheaper, I'm doing this because:
-My paychecks are small and I am saving those for other things (including other consoles) , and
-I like Coke, and this gives me a good reason to drink Coke.
My family's helping me on this, but for the moment I only have 55 points. The program ends Jan 31 2008, and at the rate I'm going I may not have enough points by then.
What I'm asking for are codes. These come with almost every Coke product (including Sprite, some Powerade bottles, Minute Maid, Dasani, Fanta, Fresca, Vault, Nestea, Barq's, Mr.Pibb, etc) Usually under the bottle's cap or inside the box.
The points system works like this:
32 Pack, 12 oz. cans 25 points
8 Pack, 20 oz. bottles 24 points
24 Pack, 12 oz. cans 20 points
6 Pack, 24 oz. bottles 18 points
12 Pack, 12 oz. cans (Fridge Pack) 10 points
24 Pack, 500 ml 10 points
12 Pack, 500 ml 10 points
1 liter bottle 3 points
1.5 liter bottle 3 points
2 liter bottle 3 points
3 liter bottle 3 points
20 oz. bottle 3 points
32 oz. bottle 3 points
450mL PET 3 points
I would be infinitely grateful for anyone's help.
As of 6/28/06, my point total is 83.
83/6250 = 1.328%

I restocked on duct tape yesterday with the vague idea of making a grass skirt for myself. I quickly came to my senses and decided that would be too much for me, so I make a smaller grass skirt-like purse.
Christ, that was still a lot of work. The grassy fringe stuff is only on half of the front side of the purse, everything else is plain green with lime on the inside.
I used primary green and island lime Duck brand tape for the purse itself, and primary yellow, atomic orange, and funky flamingo for the flowers. The handles were tied on with black elastic cord, both of which can be bought at any craft store.
I've been posting a lot of purses in the past. I think I'll just save this thread instead of making fifty new ones every time I get an idea.
Anyway, I also have a purse that looks like a lime cross-section. Pics will come when I finish up an orange, lemon, and possibly grapefruit. XD
This FL atmosphere is doing something to me, I swear it.
I'll likely be selling these on Ebay in the future, so stay posted.
