Happy Birthday Sammy!

[so while Sam is in the shower, Dean decided to do a little redecorating. After opening all the windows in the motel room, he put out the burriotos, chips, dip, beer and tequila he had gotten for his brother's "birthday dinner". And of course there was pie for dessert. Not in the Mexican flair but Dean tended to have Pie A.D.D. when he was at the store.

However, there is also hanging in the center of the room a pinata... in the shape of a devil. And a very big stick for Sam to smack it around with. So he lined up the shots and smiled as his brother came out of the bathroom.]

There's the birthday boy! Now we can start drinkin'.
Out of all the choices Dean has ever made in his life, this was becoming the one he was starting to regret the most. He would never regret saying "Yes" because he saved the world. He saved his brother. He did everything that was asked of him by every father he had - physical and metaphysical. You'd think that after doing that, there would be a parade and 72 virgins waiting in his hotel room with an endless supply of beer and pie, right?

Dean should have realized long ago he just wasn't that lucky. Actually - he had realized that long ago and why he thought that would change once he was done with his "job", he didn't know.

He had listened to Topher give him his options, and he didn't like either of them. So he sat now in his bedroom, cleaning his gun and just thinking. He thought better when he had something to do with his hands, and not involving alcohol. Plus, he'd need a clean gun if it came down to it.

No one wants a broken doll...

ooc: follows THIS and then THIS.

The glitches had happened the moment Dean drove away without his brother. But he didn't blame Sam for them. Sam didn't put the tech into his head. Dean should have already known that when something was dead or broken, it was better off that way, and he shouldn't try to fix it.

It was just nightmares. Glimpses of lives of people he didn't know. Flashes that sometimes had light, sometimes had sound, and sometimes it was just emotional feelings. Never all three. But the nightmares soon became realities and Dean found himself reacting to situations in ways he knew he wouldn't.

The day he broke down crying while watching the news about a father who lost his wife to cancer on television clued him in that something was wired wrong. That was when he called a psychic in New Orleans he had heard about.

The world is ending next week thanks to the Winchesters so what are you going to do with the time you have left?

It was Sam who learned about the Dollhouse.

Of all the crazy, asinine schemes Sam could uncover in researching their last case, never would they have thought a news story about some senator talking about dolls and prostitutes would interest them. But after the job was done, Sam went back to look at that theory further, and then the brothers were in over their heads.

Rumors and speculations all over the place about an organization - aka Dollhouse - that took you people, erased their minds and made them into mindless dolls, and then would imprint new identities by request of the wealthy to take on the opposite roles in their greatest fantasies. Discussions of if it was rape if the people signed up for it knowing what was going to happen to their bodies. Free the Dolls campaigns. It was a platform for political nut jobs to get out their anger at society through another ideal they could latch onto.

And somewhere in all the craziness, Sam found a phone number.

It was Dean who made the call.Collapse )

You'd think by now, Sam would know that Dean was able to find him whenever he had to. So when he got back from getting dinner and Sam was no where to be seem, Dean instantly went to the junkyard.

He walked through quietly, looking for Sam, listening for something that would clue him in on where his little brother had wandered to this time. Finally, it was the soft voices that got his attention and he got closer.

“I just—I don’t know what to do, Ruby. I don’t know how to fix this, and make it right.”

“We’ll figure it out, okay? We’ll figure it out.”

Dean grit his jaw, hearing Ruby's voice. His fingers itched for the knife that he had tucked in his boot and he even started to reach for it when he heard the noise that stopped him.

Sam... sobbing as he curled up into Ruby's arms. No Dean's, but Ruby's. That was too much for him, and Dean stood up, leaving the knife where it was.

It was a thought that had been in the back of his mind while Sam had been in the panic room. About how Sam had attached himself to Ruby on so many levels, that his brother may not be able to function without her. That Ruby was a part of Sam, just like how Dean was. Somewhere while Dean had been in hell, Sam had convinced himself that he needed Ruby, and there was nothing Dean could do to make him see otherwise.

While Dean wished he could rip that part out of Sam, he knew that right now that wouldn't so them any good. Sam needed to get over this demon blood and what had happened, and get himself back together. Dean wanted to protect him from it - his instincts screamed to take her out - but that wouldn't help Sam.

And Dean needed to focus on helping Sam first. And if having this demon around would help him get past some of the really bad stuff now... he'd deal with the aftermath later when he would have to repair his brother - again - after the bitch lied to him.

Maybe then Sam would be the one to stick the knife up into her and get revenge for the pain the demons had caused him. Dean could only hope.

He turned to go, then stopped. No, if Sam felt he needed Ruby, fine. He'll compromise on that. However, this sneaking around was going to end now.

Two hands slammed down on top of the wrecker in the yard, intending to startle both the occupants inside. Dean gave them both a look. "Sorry, am I breaking up your private taxicab confessional here?"
