OK so let me get this straight:

“Obama says as a father of two daughters, the government should ‘apply some common sense’ to rules when it comes to over-the-counter medication.”

Therefore, the government needs to require all women to ask a pharmacist and show ID before they're allowed to purchase a single, extremely safe, ~$50 pill which delays ovulation.

Because we wouldn't want any 10-year-olds going to a pharmacy and accidentally buying this single, extremely safe pill instead of bubble gum (candy aisle? family planning aisle? same diff!), taking it and, horror of horrors, avoiding a pregnancy.

However, we're not worried at all about 10-year-old girls buying a giant sized bottle of Tylenol and eating them all, because clearly 10-year-olds aren't that stupid. Tylenol NEEDS to be on the shelf! It's for HEADACHES!!!

Common sense?

Isn't it odd that the only forms of "birth control" anti-choicers will tolerate -- abstinence and NFP -- just so happen to be the only forms of "birth control" that leave women totally unprotected from impregnation by rape?

Considering the recent efforts to deny abortion coverage to impoverished rape victims in the US Congress, the "Conceived in Rape Tour" in Mississippi, new state laws like the one in Texas forcing even rape victims to go through a vaginal ultrasound then wait 24 hours, and so on... it's starting to get really obvious that these people care a whole lot more about subjugating women -- by force if necessary -- than protecting fetuses.

They have basically moved in to using rape as a tool to pressure women in to motherhood. Hard to believe it's come to this in the USA. How long before they start actively encouraging men to go out and rape for the pro-life cause? I like to think it will never come to that, but I guess you never know.

I read that they issued a Selena postage stamp and now I keep thinking about her. :(

This cracks me up so bad... something about the way she dumps the cart on its side (who does that?), and the fact that she's wearing workout clothes.

I keep hearing BP say that their attempts to plug the well in the Gulf "might not work" because it's never been done at such a depth. Is it really too much to ask that these companies figure out how to plug these deep ocean wells BEFORE they go and drill them? You would think that would be the rational way to do things, but apparently not.
