SQL Server 2019 is the latest generation of Microsoft’s data platform that significantly extended its capabilities as a platform for data unification. This release has been enhanced to deliver breakthrough scalability and performance to improve the stability and response time of the database.

This support continues to provide organizations with more options for running SQL Server in containers with Kubernetes. Other new features include:

• Intelligent Query Processing—This new feature can improve the performance of existing workloads with minimal implementation effort. There are several approaches for improving performance including row mode memory grant feedback and batch mode on rowstore, among others.
• In-Memory Database—Optimizations include the ability to use Persistent Memory (PMEM) for datapages. Because persistent memory is faster than solid-state drives, the database can service I/O requests faster, accelerating performance.
