Presentation Guidelines

How to be selected

To pitch to the NM Angels investor members you must apply for funding and be accepted through our assessment process. What we look for and how we assess companies is outlined in investment criteria.

Pitching advice

Great pitch decks are adaptable. It's not a one-size-fits-all tool; you'll want to adjust it for different situations.

    • Learn what to include in your Pitch Deck
    • When you're presenting live or on video, your deck should be simple. The slides should support your presentation, not distract from it. Use minimal text and focus on visuals to keep the attention on the speaker.
    • When you're sharing the deck directly with an investor or including it in your New Mexico Angels application, it needs to stand alone. The deck should contain more detail, including clear text and a compelling narrative, to tell your story without you there to explain it.

If selected to pitch to our Investor members

  • 8 minutes with 7 min Q&A. Please practice and ensure you can reliably finish under time
  • One speaker
  • Keep content simple and designed to complement what you are saying. Too many slides, too much detail, rambling rather than concise speech, and you will lose the audience.
  • Practice your pitch first with a video app such as loom and then with an uninformed audience that does not know who you are or the business. Saying it out loud is essential, even for pros!
