So, my LJ might be experiencing howling winds and tumbleweeds...

...but I couldn't go without posting that calichickaboo and I went to see Much Ado About Nothing with Torri Higginson as Beatrice tonight. It was in the tiniest theatre in LA, we were three feet from the stage, she and JD Cullum (Benedick) were outstanding, and afterwards we met her coming out of her dressing room and she shook my hand, signed our programs and told us we were great for coming. And she looked really good.

I think I can die happy, now. ;)

It's that time of the year again...

I'm at work, trawling the internet for costume ideas for Prince Charming from Cinderella.

Must be Panto season, then. ;)

Personally, I'm just having a laugh over the fact that after a few years of restructuring for the part of Principal Girl, they've now decided to make me the Principle Boy. *g*

So, I've never actually seen So You Think You Can Dance, but I think some of my American flisters are quite keen on it? Anyway, apparently there is now going to be a British version, hosted by Cat 'I-thought-she-said-she-wasn't-coming-back-to-Britain?' Deeley. And Arlene Phillips is going to be on the judging panel.

I don't know why this entertains me so much, but it does. I'll probably end up watching it; I've managed to get myself addicted to Strictly again.

Hee!

I am monkey...

I went to Go Ape up in Aberfoyle today and spent the whole afternoon harnessed-up climbing around trees, falling off wooden/rope bridges and attatching myself to ziplines where I inevitably fell over at the end into the woodchip piles. I came back covered in mud and feeling like my arms were going to fall off.

And I really, really, really want to go again!

Yay

This week on "How Did I Get Myself Into This, Again?"...

I've just agreed to do a charity skydive next May for The Beatson Pebble Appeal , which is our University's Cancer Charity, along with four of my colleagues from the Hunterian Museum. A little terrifying, yes, but hopefully, if we book in time, we'll get to do it with The Red Devils!

And let's face it, if you're gonna jump out of a plane, being strapped to a member of the British Army Parachute Regiment while you do it can only be a Good Idea. ;)

So, in an effort to get healthier my friend and I joined our local gym and have decided to go Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, reasoning that we will probably do better if we're there to spur each other on. I feel this will not only get me fitter but also stop me spending all my nights glued to the Xbox after work and allow me to fit into a nice new dress for my auntie's wedding in December.

Of course, seeing as we were starting our new regime today, we naturally decided the best way to approach it was to go drinking heavily last night, consume my own body-weight in vodka and stay up til 3.30am talking to my other friend about how incredibly awesome the Batman game is. I'm amazed we lasted the hour and a half we did in the fitness suite. *groans*

I was meant to get started on the True Blood DVDs Sci-Fi Guy at work gave me this weekend - where did all the time go?

Brief game!geek-out.

Two days 'til Batman: Arkham Asylum comes out here, and I have Friday - Monday off work.

I feel it is going to be a good weekend. :D

On the return...

So me and both of my friends have managed to get back from Australia with raging colds, much to the amusement of everyone else, although I did get a barely-perceptible, really-only-a-slightly-darker-shade-of-pale tan, which is for me a triumph. :D

I got up yesterday afternoon feeling slightly jet-lagged and as though I should really be visiting someplace cool/of national importance before remembering I was home. We fitted so much into that fortnight; it was awesome. I can now tick off Great Ocean Road, Sydeny Opera House and Hunter Valley Vineyards from my list of place I really want to see!

Reeeeeally want to go back to Oz at some point in the near future, although after the 23hour flight from Sydney-Glasgow on Tuesday, I may leave it a while. ;)

Dear self,

It should not be possible to be this stressed about going on holiday. Yes, it is your first time travelling out of Europe (or, really, Britain, since you've only been to Italy once), and going away for more than a few days and OMG packing! And remembering things! And money than is not sterling or euros! but it's supposed to be fun.

Yours,
The Management.

I think the heat is making me crazy. We Scottishlanders are not bred for this. I wish it would rain.
