WHY is the rum gone?
Due to recent events, I have decided to make all of my lj friends only, including fic and art. I am sorry if you followed a link here, only to be thwarted, but leave a comment here and I shall add you.

What are your choices?
If you only want to see fanart or fic, just ask to be added to the fandom filter and it will be done. If you want to hear about my mostly boring life, and see the occasional photo posts I do, then ask for the personal filter. You can, of course, request to be on both.

My Friending Policy
I don't always friend back. This has nothing to do with paranoia, and a lot to do with forgetfulness. I like to read the journal entries of a new acquaintance a little bit before friending, and sometimes I forget to do that - and then.... well. Tis forgotten. I am old and forgetful. It will happen to you all one day. LOL!

Its been a while since I Konmair'd and the next category I have to tackle is paperwork, so I'm going to start it. I have a TON of paperwork all over the house, so I'll probably start with the bedroom desk and see how I get on with that.

I totally forgot to post up info on challenge three. LOL. So I rolled a 4 (at least I think it was a 4, I was pretty drunk at the time) which is flickr/facebook.

I have rather a lot of photos on flickr and they are all in dated folders, but in the beginning I would name them in the format - 2004 June family picnic and then later I went over to using the format - 15-01-23 - K birthday

I prefer the second format so Im in the process of renaming all the folders - at last count I have about 337 to go!!!

So my challenge for this round is to rename at least 100 of those. No idea if I will manage it - or if I've set the bar too low but we shall see.

EDIT 1 : Have done 20/100 plus as an added bonus, I've finished uploading all of my pictures from facebook that were not uploaded to flickr. SCORE!

EDIT 2: 117 folders renamed. I officially declare this challenge MET!

I have to tell you, I am LOVING this challenge. I get so overwhelmed that having permission to focus all my energy on one thing only for a couple of weeks is just awesome. I get that shit done, rather than do nothing because it's all too much for my poor little head to process. BEST IDEA EVER!

Okay so challenge 2 I rolled a 6 which was the wildcard - meaning I could pick anything I liked so I picked three outstanding household tasks -

• cleaning out under my bed


• cleaning out our shoe cupboard


• put up a new curtain rail in my daughters room.

How did I get on?

OH yeah! When I clean under my bed - I lift up the whole bed. ROFL. Flipped the mattress and everything. Took about an hour to do from start to finish and I did need a bit of help getting the mattress off and the bed on its end, but tis done!

NAILED IT! It occurred to later that I probably should have done some sort of before and after shots to show how messy the shoes were before but hindsight is a wonderful thing - trust me it was a swamp. One large bag of shoes and accessories GONE

Putting up curtain rail in daughter's room....

Ran into small glitch here - I thought we had all the poles and fixing already and that it would be a simple matter of re-attaching but it turned out not to be the case - I would need to buy a whole new curtail rail and I dont have the funds for that this month. SO - took a look at my outstanding tasks list and chose an alternative:

Cleaning out the bathroom cupboards...(this time with before and afters)




YAY much better - I moved the calendar, hung the whiteboard, cleared out the medicine cupboard, rearranged the shelves and did all the other storage areas in the bathroom too. Then I cleaned the bath, sink and toilet and washed the floor.

so I declare this weeks challenge ACCOMPLISHED. What do you say Xim?

In an attempt to 'encourage' myself to visit here at least twice a month, I'm going to use LJ as a progress log for a little challenge Ximeria and I have come up with to get our collective fingers out and just get the hell on with stuff.

We have named it the GSD (Get Shit Done) challenge and have set 6 categories to work on determined by dice roll. Each challenge will last two weeks and we must document our progress here.

The categories and corresponding dice numbers are :-

1 computer maintenance tasks
2 website work - maintaining/updating
3 fandom work (creating new works or reworking old ones)
4 flickr/facebook (photograph album sorting) uploading
5 scanning/photoshop (prep of images)
6 wildcard/free choice

Two weeks ago I rolled a 5 so my challenge was to work on scanned images. I have a great many old pictures that I've scanned but have not saved to flickr yet so I spent the time finding all the old pictures and getting them all together in one place. This task was so large, that I didn't even manage to finish collecting them all - I still have a lot of old CD's to search through, but the challenge isn't so much about finishing a task, more about starting it in the first place.

Today marked the end of the first challenge so I rolled again and this time got a 6 - wildcard/free choice

I am choosing to do some outstanding household tasks that are on my list for this one - cleaning out the shit under my bed, cleaning out our shoe cupboard and put up a new curtain rail in my daughters room. These are tasks which have been on said list for between 6 months and a year. Yeah, time to get that shit done!!!

Um, okay so yeah. How is everyone? Hope you are all having a lovely time of it. I am up to my arm-pits in holiday prep and for some odd reason decided that today would be a good day to paint three doors and half of my bathroom! Totally insane!!!

I also hopped over here to say a huge thank you to aswanargent for the lovely chrismas card - I miss you all too :-( And for the big fedex box that got here today! Homeland Security got to it first though, and although they made a good attempt at rewrapping Izzi's gift after they checked it for drugs/explosives - mine didnt fare so well!!! I wish I'd taken pics of how they appeared on opening the box - but safe to say it was hillarious. And as you will see from this pic - they actually opened the box of caramels and took one out - I like to think they sent it to Forensics, saw that it was clear, then had it with a nice cup of coffee. ROFL

Had a mild panic attack when I thought I had lost half of my Sherlock manips - but it turned out I had just moved them to several not very obvious folders!

Finally got around to re-uploading some of my later Merlin manips to my website.  Its taking way longer than it should but I'm still banging away at it.  LOL

The last time one of them had been naked in Jack's office it had been Daniel dropping in from a higher plane of existence where apparently, clothing was a foreign concept.

Jack had no such excuse. Then again, he'd been unbearably horny all day watching Daniel strut around in that fucking suit, playing diplomat to a host of off-world dignitaries. Perhaps that was excuse enough for getting naked?

Being the General had it's perks, and this was definitely one of them.
