Today is a work day.  The weather is supposed to be pretty decent today.

I have the day off work.  I have a few errands to run, but I hope to also work on my plants.

Later: In the morning, I redid faded plant labels, changing some to the names of the plants I have this year.  I have quite a few perennials that survived the winter.

In the afternoon, Mom and I went out on those errands.  We made it to the library and the grocery store.

In the evening, I put a number of the labels out in their proper places.                                    

Today is a work day, so I should go to sleep any time now.

The weather is supposed to be much nicer today.  Still hot, but not as humid.

Later: I got out for two rounds of planting plants.  The pot of water-loving plants had been knocked over.  I rescued and replanted that.

I finally transplanted the begonias with bronze leaves and pink flowers into individual pots of their own, rather than the four-pack of little cells that they were in.  I planted the flowering tobacco by the west side of the house, not too far from the back door.

I planted more white rain lilies and potted up the two lantana that I'd gotten the other day.  I put the pots of lantana on either side of the 'Stella d'Oro' daylily, which is blooming profusely.  The colors match perfectly.  I potted up the lemongrass with a couple of four o'clock tubers.  I moved the pots of pinks from where they were and deadheaded them.

Mom and Dad and I were going to go to a Reading Phillies game tonight, but didn't know it was supposed to be so hot and humid out.  Mom has already tapped out, and I don't know how ambitious I will feel about traveling and such in that weather.

A few hours later: I am really not feeling ambitious.  I learned that an activity that was planned to happen tonight where I work was canceled, with the activity shifted to Saturday.  This means that I'm not working on Saturday.  I'm okay with that.  So far I've spent my day inside again.  I'd like to get back to the plants I wanted to plant or transplant outside, but I'm not feeling ambitious about working in the heat.

I don't have to go anywhere or do anything today, and I'm happy about that.  It's brutally hot out.  There are plants that I can sit on the porch and plant or transplant.

I want to plant some plants.

Later: I did.  I potted up a taro bulb (tuber?) with 'Kathleen' (pink) and 'Candidum Sr.' (white) caladiums, and white rain lilies.  The pot I put them in doesn't have drainage holes, but they'll be okay with that.  I put the pot in a shady spot near the green shed.  I brought out a pot from inside that I'd planted a taro and some rain lilies in.  The rain lilies had sprouted.  I put that pot near the outside water faucet, by the cardinal flower.

I did a lot of lopping of dead rose canes and cutting down volunteer Rose of Sharon sprouts.  Also I cut down a bunch of grapevine from various spots, including over the shrubs in front of the porch.  I was cleaning the lopper blades off with alcohol before and after pruning the roses.

Some of the many sorts of seeds that I'd planted by the path between driveway and porch look like they're sprouting.  I have calendula and cilantro sprouting from when the plants went to seed last year, plus I scattered more calendula seeds in that area.  Some of the little cilantro plants are flowering and trying to go to seed.  That was fast.  I also scattered bachelor's buttons seeds there.

I gave up on lopping when I heard a rumble of thunder, and gave up on using the outdoor faucet to water plants when I heard the thunder rumbling almost continuously.  I retreated to the porch, under shelter of that roof, to sort out what I still needed to plant, and then went inside when it started to rain.

I had the day off from work.  I had an appointment, and then I went shopping.  I went to Home Depot for soil and such.  Next I went to Wal-Mart for various things.  I went to the usual grocery store to pick up some food.

Back-dating by a day: I had a new type of job assignment or variation on a couple of older ones today.

It's another work day.  I've got to go back to sleep pretty soon.
