Nexuiz Überblick
Nexuiz befindet sich seit fast fünf Jahren in der Entwicklung durch ein Team von Amateurentwicklern unter der Leitung von Lee Vermeulen. Es ist ein 3D-Deathmatch-Spiel, das vollständig über das Internet erstellt wurde. Ziel des Spiels ist es, das Deathmatch auf die Grundlagen zurückzubringen, mit perfekter Waffenbalance und schnellem Tempo, und sich von dem aktuellen Trend realistischer Shooter fernzuhalten. Es verwendet HFX-Texturen von Evil Lair und hat derzeit 17 Karten, auf denen man frags sammeln kann. Mit einer fortschrittlichen Benutzeroberfläche kann der Benutzer zwischen 15 verschiedenen Spielermodellen wählen, mit durchschnittlich zwei Skins für jedes, und kann sich mit unserem Master-Server verbinden, um mit Menschen aus der ganzen Welt zu spielen.
Der Inhalt und der Quellcode des Spiels sind GPL, was bedeutet, dass er völlig kostenlos ist und jeder Teil davon in anderen kostenlosen Projekten verwendet werden kann, selbst wenn er modifiziert wurde. Dies ist ein Novum für jedes große Spielprojekt seiner Art. Wir hoffen, dass dies die kostenlose Spielgemeinschaft unterstützt und mehr GPL-Projekte anregt.

I was hesitant to download this as it's based on a modified Quake 1 engine and I find even Quake 3's graphics clunky and dated. I'm also more of an Unreal Tournament fan. But holy flurking schnidt, this is one HIGHLY modified Quake engine, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexuiz for info.
I find the unrelenting fast-paced gameplay reminiscent of the original Unreal Tournament or even UT2004, with better graphics than OpenArena/Quake 3, really nice music and sound effects (weapons and announcers), and lots of levels and add-ons.
This one gives Sauerbraten a run for its (lack of) money at least in terms of fun traditional FPS gameplay. And it runs WAY faster, though the less advanced engine than SB or, say, UT2004/UT3 means less eye candy. You won't miss it.
Five stars, since it's free and open-source. If it were paid, I might give only four.

This is a great multiplayer game.
Even if you don't have internet to explore some of it's online multiplayer capabilities, there are still bots to shoot at.
Another great thing about this game that a lot of other first person shooters don't have is the ability to accept other maps that didn't come with Nexuiz, especially the ability to download maps off of a dedicated server.
Again, this is a very good first-person shooter game.

Very fun game, runs great on my 3 year old iMac 1.83Ghz Core Duo. However, playing regularly for 2 months last summer gave me RSI because of the extremely fast and unrelenting gameplay. So take it easy...

This game is the medicine.
I'm speechless right now.
Just came out from a 3 hour non-stop ultra hardcore games. And I just want more.
At first, I thought there were some things in Nexuiz, that didn't behave exactly as you're used to. First and foremost, the player movements have a slight accelleration/descelleration added to it. Which makes it feel a little funny in the beginning. But after a while, you're perfectly ok with it (I mean, perfectly ok with it).
Now on to some details. The sound effects are great. But, the music - although not every track - is, at times, super rad! Ingeniously crafted into this game, the music literally pumps out your adrenaline. It's that great.
I must frankly say, that I really can't collect my optimistic thoughts about this game and express it in words. But to all fps fanatics out there:
This is the game.
No unnecessary story plots, realistic yada yada; just pure battle, right from the start.
