The True Cost of Impact-First Investing: A Conversation for What Comes Next

    Overview

What does it really cost to invest in impact-first ways—and what does that mean for the future of the field?

Join us for a timely and provocative webinar unpacking the findings of The True Cost of Impact-First Investing, a first-of-its-kind cost study conducted by eight leading catalytic fund managers covering $200M AUM and 362 deals.

From the “Valley of Death” to cost per dollar deployed, we’ll explore the structural disconnect between expectations and reality, and why reclaiming the term impact investing may be long overdue.

This session is for funders, practitioners, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and anyone committed to moving capital more inclusively, effectively, and honestly.

    Expect:

    • A deeper look at the numbers behind catalytic capital
    • Fresh debate about the future of impact-first investing
    • A collaborative “hivemind” discussion about what’s next: future research directions, narrative shifts, and how to get involved in the next round of the study

We don’t have all the answers. We’re building the questions, and we want your voice in the room.

    Time: 1:00 – 2:00 PM EDT

The Thirteen Intentions of Philanthropy: An SSIR Author Conversation

The past year has roiled the social sector. The assumption that government is a reliable partner for philanthropies and their visions of impact, effectiveness, and scale has been thrown into doubt. It is time for the sector to rethink its tendency toward monoculture and embrace the diverse motivations and values that ensure its relevance and sustainability. In this live conversation, SSIR deputy editor David Johnson speaks with Ari Simon, author of SSIR’s Spring 2026 feature story, “What Else Can I Do? The Thirteen Intentions of Philanthropy.” They will critically examine the prevailing norms of philanthropic practice today and explore a more pluralistic model for understanding the reasons for giving. They will also take questions from the audience.
